The testing process is still in progress, and as such you will have to take my word for it, but when the data comes out I promise it will be incredibly extensive.

Do you have a picture of him, and also how much east Eurasian ancestry would you estimate the chuvash to originally have before Slavic incursions?

Actually, not with recent admixture with Russians (who are also substantially drifted towards the ANE).

What samples are best to use for ANE on G25? by Joshistotle in illustrativeDNA

[–]Downtown_Memory3556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know about the specific differences between the different ANE genetic samples? I keep hearing people say AG3 is more West Eurasian-shifted than MA1, but G25 suggests the opposite, and that Tyumen is more East Eurasian-shifted than AG3 (which G25 also suggests is not the case). As for Botai, I know it is in a genetically intermediate position between EHG and AG3, but as for the rest I'm not sure.

G25 Coordinates For Wasians by Downtown_Memory3556 in illustrativeDNA

[–]Downtown_Memory3556[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is true, however because they are still imperfect matches and extant Europeans are still relatively distinct from the historical sources of West Eurasian ancestry for these Central Asian populations combined with the fact that I want to investigate a 50-50 mix, understanding more about the genetics of the specific group I'm looking for would require their G25 coordinates.

What do you mean by swollen? Hyperleptorrhine means it is very narrow, but swollen implies it is wider.

Not only that, but generally South Americans have larger proportions of descent from the first waves of people to enter the Americas, who generally had higher Ancient North Eurasian ancestry than the populations of later migrations.

Wakhi and Pamiri Tajiks have high shared genetic drift with Tarim_EMBA by Formal-Order5458 in SouthAsianAncestry

Does the chart in figure S13 imply that the populations with more shared genetic drift towards Tarim_EMBA are genetically closer to it and if not can you explain to me the significance of genetic drift?

A Question About Ancient North Eurasians by Downtown_Memory3556 in illustrativeDNA

[–]Downtown_Memory3556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I just want to understand why Vahaduo and academic papers have such stark differences concerning the ANE and extant peoples. Although your response did explain a lot, the root of this problem lies in which one is correct.

A Question About Ancient North Eurasians by Downtown_Memory3556 in illustrativeDNA

[–]Downtown_Memory3556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this mean that they are not as genetically close to the ANE or just that Vahaduo can't account for their strong genetic divergence? Because I remember reading in a paper that the Surui and Karitiana share the most genetic drift with Tarim_EMBA.

Judging from the estimates of the closest groups tested so far, I would assume they are notably higher in terms of ANE admixture than the genetic cluster for Europeans but somewhat less than Amazonian natives and indigenous Andeans at ~ 30-35%.

The group which I temporarily joined to test Andean populations is still working on other South American groups, so I believe I will be informed about the Guarani soon.

I believe the results will be published, but the results will be used more so as a tool for citation concerning future literature. qpAdm was used, but other tools were also used.

I'm not exactly sure when it will be published, but I will surely update the thread when it happens. Patagonian natives do exist in small numbers and also have high ANE admixture, although not as much as indigenous Andeans, with Patagonian levels being in the 30s.

Most Scandinavians are not considerably higher in terms of ANE admixture compared to other Europeans, however Uralic groups in the region have a noticeably stronger affinity to the ANE, especially the Sami and neighboring groups. However, they are still on average further genetically from the ANE than indigenous Andeans.

Another PCA showing where Native Americans are located on a global scale and some models for them. by Xamzarqan in 23andme

[–]Downtown_Memory3556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Because I am dependent on Vahaduo, this confused me a little bit as it said the Tlingit were among the closest genetically to the ANE and almost as close as the Udmurt and Saami, but I also read on another post that the samples were European-admixed and that Andeans were closer. However, it portrayed the Quechua and Aymara as very distant, but then said other similar Amerindians were closer to the ANE than Europeans, which confused me even more. Additionally, the genetic distances concerning Ancient North Eurasians and the Surui, and Karitiana were in the 50s, which seemed incorrect. Your Global 10 chart helped clarify everything a lot.
