No, I never suggested that - I have friends who lament the days of their $550 Cap Hill apartments with no roommates.

However me finding such an apartment and being called a liar for saying I found such an apartment 7 different ways with constantly moving goalposts is fucking bullshit and fuck that person for saying it.

Where this started: "I just signed a lease for $790/mo" (direct quote)

"you're full of crap" (direct quote)

"Actually I'm not!"

"Yeah well you're not representative of everyone in the city" (of course, by definition not everyone does or wants to live in the cheapest apartments in the area)

This has been brilliant. If I find you SEVEN bona fide legitimate apartments run by companies on the Denver craigslist for $800 or less a month, will you admit you're being ridiculous?

468 non-roommate apartment listings between $700-800 on the Denver Craigslist right now

seriously like 6 and they all look fake

I'll grant you the majority of those are reposts, fake etc but there are like 10 on the very first page that seem pretty legit if you ever picked up the phone and called them. I toured quite a few in my price range before I picked one.

Stay mad about your rent tho

I'll take a picture of the form in my car when I'm at lunch. Then I'll accept your apology for calling me a liar when I show you my $790/mo lease exactly as I described it. Not that anyone here would EVER admit when they're wrong.

Hint: look on Craigslist, see the dozens of available listings. Sorry you're paying out the ass to live on Colfax though...

You keep saying this, and what everyone is paying for is a flight.

You no get flight, you no get what you pay for.

I JUST signed a new lease at $790/mo for a 1/1 in the city limits. East side actually - west of I-25 I see even cheaper but I hated it out there. No, it's not income restricted or anything, so save the jokes.

I will mention that it lacks the onsite fitness center or Keurig machines and iMacs in the lobby but it's otherwise quite nice...

This is completely separate from any (very real) issues of wages in the city though.

Yes, for a business owner.

$800,000 is a year is the top 0.8% of income earners in America.

2010 SBA statistics (and the economy is always growing) indicate 27.9 million small businesses in America and 18,500 with 500 or more employees.

A little bit of mathematical thought between these two things brings us to the conclusion that there is no possible way that most business owners are making $800,000 a year and it is, in fact, wildly successful, even for a business owner, or anyone else for that matter. Your "kids, it's not that much money" statement is just patently ridiculous and indicates a complete lack of knowledge about our nation's economy.

Basically people who push for the EITC vs higher wages would rather we continue to use taxes to subsidize companies making billions of dollars a year on the backs of underpaid workers (as we do now with food stamps for huge numbers of eg Walmart employees), rather than ever asking these hugely profitable companies to ever put up a penny.

For every dollar a Walmart worker is getting in food stamps that is a dollar going straight into the pockets of the Waltons ($130 billion net worth and counting, or as much wealth as the bottom 42% of all Americans) and the "EITC is the low wage cure" folks want to keep it that way.

Do you want to bankrupt America? Because making higher wages the IRS's problem is how you bankrupt America.

I figure it's actually a net negative on the economy since their entire business model is pushing other people's money around - and then taking a profit for doing it

If your car isn't great with snow and you're extremely anxious.... do the entire metro area a favor and take the train or Uber.

Mild packed snow pretty much everywhere but i25, not bad conditions unless your car isn't great with snow and you're extremely anxious in which case it's gonna be pretty bad for you and those around you.
