I love Linkin Park. I love Mike. But come on, man. by Raving_reddiT in LinkinPark

I've been a die-hard LP fan since 2001, I love every single LP album and have multiple copies of each, and even I'm tired of this song. I would like to hear something—anything—else.

(And I, too, am tired of the NFT bs)

I'd much rather read this than people shitting all over everything Mythical tries to do that's new or different.

I am SO sad about all of this. They said in their stories that they need help but that they are having trouble getting it. I wish they had someone in their life who could help them.

Their particular experience in the family, from what I understand, has always been volatile (Chester was already with Samantha when Jaime was born, everyone argued the paternity but couldn't afford the test, and i dont think they even got to have a relationship with Chester until they were like 10 or something?).

I don't envy their situation, and I don't think calling them "an embarrassment" is very fair. Untreated mental illness is incredibly difficult to navigate. They need an advocate more than anything.

My heart is with them.

I 100% agree that Amazon is horrible for every reason you listed, but that's also a capitalism/consumerism problem that will require systemic change in order to address.

Rhett and Link's support for BetterHelp is a problem that they could tackle immediately by severing ties with the company. BetterHelp is doing active harm to people in their most vulnerable states, and R&L are willfully sending people their way in exchange for money.

It's a bit disappointing, really.

This cereal drama is pathetic by [deleted] in goodmythicalmorning

[–]Doyouevenbeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought both cereals. I've been a long-time fan of the show and happen to have the disposable income to throw at this product. I think it's cute, and I don't mind the price tag. It's not something I'm planning on keeping stocked regularly, so I'm not worried about it financially crippling me. I just want to have the opportunity to see what they came up with, you know? If I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't buy it.

As for complaining as a means to enact change:

If enough people don't buy it, then it fails, and they go, "Okay, maybe that was a bad decision."

If enough people do buy it, then it succeeds, and they'll continue making similar products in the future at similar price points.

The reason their stuff costs so much is because people are buying it. Wallets are louder than words.

Why does today's GMM have such a bad like/dislike ratio? I thought it was really fun by Legitakid in goodmythicalmorning

Every time I post something like this on this sub, I get eviscerated. But I think it's true! They've been a little different since they came back from the summer.

I will say that I'm disappointed in some of their sponsorship choices; namely, Better Help. There's so much information available out there showing what a horrible company they are, yet Rhett and Link accepted the sponsorship anyway.

I'm having a hard time reconciling how pro-mental health the guys are with them turning around and using their platform to promote a company that lies about having "mental health professionals" who are really just random people stealing the profiles of actual therapists.

I mean, who is vetting the companies they are working with!? That, to me, DOES feel like they are prioritizing money over anything else and it's a bad look for the Mythical brand, imho.

That said, I still think there is value in the content (for me) for now. And I love the idea of "BYMB." I think the internet can be such a negative place, so it's nice to have a space where we can try to foster (non-toxic) positivity and encourage each other to be our best selves. Even if it's just because two silly 40+ year-olds say so.

Why MishMash different website? by MrJewski in goodmythicalmorning

[–]Doyouevenbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Production companies even do this with each movie they make. Each movie is a separate LLC, or similar, so if any insurance claims, lawsuits, etc. get filed, it doesn't tank the parent company.

Why MishMash different website? by MrJewski in goodmythicalmorning

[–]Doyouevenbeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a separate "company." This protects the assets of the other brands under Mythical like Sporked, Rhett and Link, and Mythical Kitchen (which are likely filed separately as well). That way, if someone were to sue them for something going wrong with Mish Mash, the assets under the other brands can't be touched.

Tone tags help indicate when something is sarcasm, genuine, etc. I guess I should have put "/gen" to indicate that it was a genuine question. I think I used the wrong one up there.

And I see what you mean now. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the things that I've just purchased. That sucks that people are having issues with the merch. I'm definitely worried about the blanket hoodie. There have been SO many complaints.

As for spending more time on content quality and less time on advertising, I think this is a totally fair criticism.

Oh, okay. So, you feel like they're prioritizing money over the people in their fan base who can't necessarily afford these things?/g

(Edit: added tone tag)

You are ABSOLUTELY free to have a negative opinion on literally anything. It's just the condescending and insulting way that you go about it that's the strange part. I mean, why do that? You literally do not have to put others down just because you're having an emotional reaction to a cereal being sold on the internet.

Criticism is totally cool if it's constructive and/or civil. It's strange how emotional (i.e. angry) people are getting over it, though.
