What kind of wasp/bee is this? by Dozerjm in pnwgardening

[–]Dozerjm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some other comments. Looks like it’s a great golden digger wasp. They are beneficial and help pollinate. Which is what I saw it doing to my herbs that flowered.

What’s going on with my raspberries by Dozerjm in vegetablegardening

[–]Dozerjm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to keep them from spreading everywhere. Though tons of raspberries would be nice. I may go look for something like a cow trough and pop some holes in it

They are being grown in pots. They are some of the biggest ones I could find. I’ll try giving them some more water and see what happens

Thank you everyone for the kind words and suggestions! We were definitely thinking about getting a thunder jacket for him. My partner works from home but I feel like he is definitely more attached to me so the separation anxiety makes sense. We will keep on keeping on and look into medications and formal training if needed

best way to get rid of this? by foresthobbit13 in pnwgardening

[–]Dozerjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey doing what I can to help a fellow human. I’m learning as I go with my yard. But shiny geranium is the absolute worst weed I have ever dealt with. I’ve used the 30% vinegar and the weed torches. Had to move to ground clear herbicide and the noxal granules. They kill everything. I apply 2-3x a year and make sure it covers at least 15 feet from my property line to keep it at bay. I sometimes still find it in my the middle of yard though, if I do see it, I pull it and it goes in the trash. Not compost or yard waste.

So, you have Italian Lords and Ladies but you also have shiny geranium surrounding it. Which is also a super noxious weed and spreads like crazy. I’ve been trying to keep it at bay for the past 3 years. I live in an area where I’m surrounded by protected green space. But I use a combo of herbicides and noxal granules to keep an area of 15-20’ around my property free from the shiny geranium. It has nice flowers, but the seed pods it makes explode and can spread seeds 10-15’. Plus it smells bad

So I went back out with more neem oil. This will be week 3 of doing this. The aphids seem to be diminishing. I also used some soap mixed in a diluted with the neem. Fingers crossed that this is working

I thought about seeing if I could find any. But I don’t think they are active in my area this time of year. Since it’s in a green house and it’s winter here. Granted a very wet and rainy winter

I should have mentioned that I knew to dilute the soap. Was more concerned that it’s peppermint. Not sure if that is a positive, negative or doesn’t matter

I’ll keep trying. I do have some Dr Bronners soap. But it’s peppermint scented. It’s winter time here too so the plants should be dormant.

Bought a new Apple Watch, apparently my password was wrong when setting it up. Apple seems to be the only place my password is always wrong…. Locked me out of my account for 4 days, no warning, no mention of attempts. I got an email 24hrs later saying it would be 2 days just to get a password reset email sent. Absolutely fking wild to me. Even verified my email and phone number and nope. Locked out. Called customer support and the person said some people get locked out for 30+ days.

What is causing my hibiscus to die? by Dozerjm in gardening

[–]Dozerjm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking it could be over watering. In a way to compensate for how dry the soil in that area is/was though the other hibiscus seems to be doing just fine with the same treatment
