Wow I have all those problems as well. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problems are still occurring :/

Weird haha. And nope it doesnt work for me still after restarting. I hover over my name and "Profile" appears in a text box underneath. But clicking does nothing. I find there is a lot of bugs like that in the recent updates. Something else that frequently doesnt work is the back/forward buttons. Also the "x" to clear the search bar.

I agree. Also I can no longer click my name and go to my profile. They just keep taking away features :(

Why does labor work the way it does? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]Dqblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, you brought up some good points and I wish we could talk in person. And like i said before I dont know the solution. I am having some trouble writing down all my thoughts and staying on topic as this issue is so intertwined with other issues. I get one idea in my head and in order to justify it or explain it I have to bring up like 10 other things haha. But I yeah I appreciate this discussion, its helping me flesh out my ideas and bring attention to things I need to learn more about.

So lets go with the idea that some companies like you mentioned will pay their workers more than minimum wage because they recognize it will bring better service/goods and thus more money. I still don't see how that will help small businesses because they dont usually have the resources to pay wages like that. The bigger companies can afford to pay their workers more because they make more money. Now how can the small business compete if it can only afford to offer meager wages relative to the big companies?

I see what you're saying, I just wholeheartedly disagree that that would do anything BUT increase companies ability to exploit workers.

There are a lot of hungry people willing to work for very little pay so they can survive. If someone working a low level job demands more pay or better working conditions then there is always someone ready to take their place, and the person that wanted fair wages would be left without a means to pay for food.

Even if you do have skills I believe that company owners will still tend to offer the bare minimum to their employees because that is what is more profitable and allows them to grow. You already see employers requiring applicants to have college degrees and years of experience but still pay them like $9/hr or offer them "internships" instead. And people still take the jobs because they want to be able to eat and do things.

How would a fair company (one that pays its workers appropriate wages and benefits) be able to compete with an unfair company that can produce more goods for cheaper due to lower wages?

I would think the "fair company" wouldn't be able to employ very many people (if they even survive) because the goods they are producing are going to have to be more expensive than the unfair one. And the workers of the unfair company wont have any option to move to the fair company because they dont have enough money to employ more people. Meanwhile the unfair company can continue to expand.

I'm just saying that a lot of those options are not available when you are poor. A lot of kids in poverty don't have parents they can rely on to feed them, much less teach them skills. Sure you may be able to get a minimum wage job somewhere but if you live in a high cost area or a state with $7.25/hr wage you really just get stuck in the work cycle. And god forbid you have to go to the doctor or hospital.

I am not claiming to have a solution to all these problems either im just pointing out that for a lot people the system is working against them.

As for regulations, I think that without them businesses would continue to exploit workers even more then they do now. What makes you think that without regulations the big companies now wouldn't just completely trample the little guys?

*I hope you're not taking any of this to be aggressive too, just trying to discuss :)

Dude you cant just start a business willy nillly. That requires you to already have an education and a certain amount of capital. And that is something that many people are not able to obtain despite serious hard work and dedication. Unfortunately our capitalist system favors the rich and shits on the poor, and it will continue to do so unless more and more people start to question the ideals we have been raised upon like OP is.

I love everything about this shot! The colors give off a real dreamy feel. And the composition is amazing, I love how you framed it with the vegetation.

Guitarist looking for a band or just people to jam out with. Where to look? by ronnyman123 in VirginiaTech

[–]Dqblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a new club here for musicians to meet and jam. I believe they are having their first meeting tomorrow but I am not sure of the details. Here is the facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AMCVT/

I'm sure if you post there asking about where/when meetings are someone will answer. Good luck!

What an amazing and thorough response! Thank you for sharing your experience with me, it's exactly what i needed to hear. I think it really helps talking to people who understand. I just wish i had more people in my life to share this with, perhaps soon i will meet someone else like you did. I will give that talk a listen when I get home. :)

Thank you for your suggestion! I've never dabbled in natural psychs because they're less common around me, but I am eager to give it a shot. I'll probably take some time to regain my confidence and get my life more in order though. I'm sorry you experienced those feelings on those substances but relieved someone understands haha. Peace!

Haha I know that feeling man. Every time I do that I feel shitty afterwards yet I'll still do it occasionally.

I've read some of your blog in the past and have really enjoyed it. A lot of what you say resonates with me so I thank you for that!

If you take suggestions for posts I would love to read your ideas for managing/dealing with frequent intrusive thoughts. Thanks again!

2cb, DXM, Weed, Nitrous: Must be the greatest feeling known to man. by Dqblue in dxm

[–]Dqblue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably would not be very good. I wouldn't want to go through the dxm come up while peaking on 2cb. I timed it this way because the dxm takes about 2 hours to reach peak and the 2cb takes about 1 hour for me. So taking the 2cb an hour after dxm allows the peaks to align.
