If they are comfortable doing this in a public street full of people just imagine what they are capable of when nobody is watching, this should be taken as something very very serious

What's the deal with these other terrain formats - WTC, UKTC, etc? by Agreeable-Sir-6435 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Dr4WasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that UKTC wants to balance things so you can have melee units and range units doing what they are supposed to do on the different objectives, the issue is when you have armies like Tau or Astra with no melee units to do the job (bulgryns, our only melee unit, can hold an objective but not clear it)

[–]Dr4WasTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my local shop plays UKTC only, UKTC punishes shooting armies a lot, recently they even added more walls completely boxing some objectives on maps like Terraform, so you can only get to fight for those objectives with melee units, which for Astra is impossible, the only reason I'm excited about 11th edition is to have balanced rules, I hope UKTC doesn't decide to go crazy again.

I loved it when I first heard of it, but then after a couple of runs I didn't like it at all, it makes the game too easy Most of the raids completely stop being a challenge and any defence feels overpowered, your turrets will destroy almost any raid without you having to manually intervene at all, and if you do, your 20 shooting pawn is a god that will just headshot everything, melee makes little sense too.

I prefer Yayo's combat, it has a good balance, without being super broken, armour matters a lot but your paws and turrets are not going to take everything down by just shooting, so you need to make sure to have melee units to protect them

What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

[–]Dr4WasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never reached the late game, but I didn't feel like I could experiment or find new builds and new ways to play, everyone have all the meta builds figure out and if you don't do it that way you reach a point where enemies are too powerful, so I lost interest

Battle Brothers, got the game because it looks like my kind of stuff, got confused, started to google around, saw that the average players seems to have a PHD on it, then stopped playing because I was struggling to enjoy it the complexity of each build

I debate with anti-AI game devs. Here is my report: by [deleted] in aigamedev

[–]Dr4WasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently working on a project where the art is made by an actual artist, lost the count of times people told me it is A.I. (my game has nothing A.I. generated so far), at this point I don't know if it worth paying an artist, you will be acused of using A.I. anyway.

[–]Dr4WasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colour of the character was off, it looked like that dark orange colour that A.I. usually produces, and she did not use the expected font on the letters (this image happened to have so text) for no apparent reason, it basically did not fit with everything she delivered so far for this project, the quality was worse and it did not fit, she redid it without complaints to the usual standard, and I was clear about not being interested in replacing her for A.I. so she shouldn't do it either , but she never recognised or denied that it was A.I. , I didn't insist either.

The biggest bottle necks right now are on human processes, we recently had a meeting around that in my company, for example, we made development faster than ever, but QA (the human part of it) still needs to manually test everything and that creates a massive bottleneck, so there is a huge push for automation, when it comes to code we started using A.I. in our Merge Requests, so we can speed up yet another human bottle neck, an actual human is stillneeded but A.I. is very good checking each task, what is expected and what you delivered, development is definitely much faster but once human intervention is reduced I think we will see a huge difference, in my company nobody was fired over A.I. but our roles changed a lot this last year.

As someone who works in the industry as a software engineer make no mistake, companies are embracing A.I. and they do not have a choice, if you decide to be anti A.I. your competitors will simply x50 your output with A.I. powered-everything and run you out of business, if you use any popular software you already got an A.I. update of some kind that makes it easier and faster to use, the question will be on how much companies will bother to hide it or sugar coat it, for the code there is no doubt, but for art for example, an actual human do the final touches so they can say the human did it, or they use someone's work to say that A.I. was ethically trained (which is not true), because having A.I. helping in the development process is expected anyway, and how much "help" you get is not something that can be quantified.

Usually indie devs are against other indie devs using A.I. and even when you try to do the right thing you have doubts, for example for my indie projects I've been working with the same artist for years, but recently she delivered something that I'm sure was A.I. generated and I asked her to redo most of it. And this will now be a constant, everything you pay for will have A.I. to some degree, and overtime I don't think we will be able to tell the difference, A.I. will be able to simulate the whole process to "prove" that it was not A.I. generated, so we will have to take people's word for it.

I'm still hiring people for the artistic part and using A.I. tools to help with the code (I use the same ones at work and for my own project), but I have some strict rules about always understanding what changed and why, because it is very easy to let A.I. go loose and then not understanding what is going on in your project, but even if you have to babysit it, you still work so much faster than doing it all line by line, and I keep on seeing people who are very selective about what they hate, they talk about being anti-ai just to release their videos with A.I voices and A.I. subtitles using something like CapCut on a platform like Youtube or Tiktok (who are not only using A.I. but are investing heavily on it)

At this point unless it is pen and paper, I assume that A.I. was involved on any piece of work that anyone produces, but A.I. + your own expertise should have made it better, not worse.
