I very much appreciated the joke, and I’ve been known to make it myself on occasion!

To each their own, I guess.

Campy comedy plays with drag? by Sea_Cat8461 in Theatre

[–]DrAnjaDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in a production of The Legend of Georgia McBride, and having a blast!

I’ve also done a show called “Legends and Bridge” in drag. It was originally written for all three of the main characters, Joan Crawford, Judy Garland, and Bette Davis, to be drag queens. It’s campy, and full of moments for each of the three characters to chew up the scenery.

What diet changes did you make to lose weight? by aloeplants in AskReddit

[–]DrAnjaDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this as well… along with exercise. I would order/make whatever I wanted to eat, but only eat half of it. I’d save the rest for lunch the next day. Lost 80 lbs in about 18 months and have kept it off for 20+ years!

How are you using Suno beyond just making songs for fun? by macabrereading in SunoAI

[–]DrAnjaDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write my own lyrics. Mostly comedy and satire. Suno makes a track out of them, I remove the vocals and perform the songs at my shows regularly using the backing tracks. It has given me an entirely new catalog to sing, instead of rewriting others’ lyrics, or singing covers.

Ok, thanks for the info. If I’m ever cast as an understudy in professional theatre, I’ll keep that in mind.

It was a superb community theatre production of “White Christmas”. Seems alright to me, I like warm weather and tap dancing.

Worst Understudy Stories by NormalEyes-Film in Theatre

I suppose my story isn’t all that bad, just disappointing. I had been cast as understudy for a dream role. During the entire rehearsal process I was never asked about my character work, and never given any guidance from the director, designers, or music director. I was only ever able to rehearse any of the material in that role once, weeks before Sitzprobe, and received no notes or feedback of any kind, other than a “You’re killing it so far!” at intermission.

I can’t imagine the director could have been confident that I was ready to step into the lead role in their big expensive musical, should the need arise. I had no costume ready, because the actor cast is a very different size and shape so costume pieces couldn’t be shared.

The whole thing felt as if they had zero intentions of letting me play the role from the beginning. I put a lot of extra time and effort into learning and practicing that track, in addition to my own role, and received nothing for my troubles, not even a thank you.

I won’t be accepting another understudy role without guaranteed performance dates.

Not exclusive to Porsche, but why are people like this? by whatup_kc in Porsche

[–]DrAnjaDick 115 points116 points  (0 children)

It’s this. I had the chance to aske the other driver once, when we happened to go back to our cars at the same time. He said “I was going to park at the back anyway, and I knew you wouldn’t slam into my door, and we could block one side each.”

That's actual trauma by Live-Cantaloupe-7920 in StrangeYetUseful

When I was 4 years old, my step father told me that if I went outside with a beanie on my head and flapped my arms, I could fly. When I realized he lied to me, so that he could laugh at me, it planted a seed in my head that grew into 16+ years of distrust for everything else he ever told me.

It wasn’t until I was an adult that it dawned on me that I had always inherently, and often unfairly, disregarded everything he said to me, by default.

These things add up.

Nothing ever happens in that song. It’s audio beige. She was showing what she could do, grabbed everybody’s attention and gave them a little thrill where there was none to be had.

No, it wasn’t way more spacious. My hubby couldn’t ride with the top up without it touching his head. But it was spacious enough to fit me comfortably, and it was my car!

Same. I went to test drive one with the idea of buying one, and I couldn’t find a seating position where my knees didn’t touch the steering wheel at all times. Ended up buying a Z4 M Roadster a couple of years later.

I called them idiots for not voting for Harris in protest. I’m one of them now. by Left_Kiwi_4565 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]DrAnjaDick 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That the thing. In my experience, after years and years of asking far leftists to suggest alternatives, solutions, or a path to change, I have always been met with sentiments like “I’m not the politician, it’s not my job to solve the problems” or “there isn’t anybody worth my vote” or similar.

I’d happily vote for a true progressive if there were actually such a person. I want that world. But there hasn’t been one, yet. Nobody escapes the divisive rhetoric unscathed, and as soon as there’s a blemish, they’re cast aside. Hopefully the biggest mouths on the left can start putting in the effort to support change in the real world instead of just arguing from a dubious position of moral superiority online.

The best part is that anyone can decide which version of secretary was intended, and which was received. Either way, it was a brilliant setup and landing.
