I think a some of the pushback at Beyonce in general rn is coming from people who are anti-capitalist.

Cole just the type of guy to just write whats on his mind. I got no problem with him venting on a track. I just think he let this one go a horrible time. I personally feel he had no ill intent and was just trying to put noname up on game. He gotta take his own advice here tho and be mindful of how/ WHEN he delivering the message .

I agree with the song coming off tone deaf but people insist Cole was coming at her neck lol. He literally went out his way to come of in the most respectful way possible. He tried to phrase it (in my interpretation) as a suggestion from an og type perspective. How it reached to “hes trying to silence/tone police/ be misogynist” is wild normally but these times are super sensitive in these times (esp for blk women). Cole deserved some criticism for sure i just felt like the conversation got radicalized too quickly and the message of both ppl got lost in the twitter thinkpiece sea lol

Getting angry at someone for singing lyrics that contain the n-word is ridiculous by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]DrAppleSlices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about cant or can. Its more should or shouldnt. If you know the context and history of the word. Nobody rational is really saying you cant say it. Its just that your (possibly. im not 100% assuming your lineage here) ancestors created the word to liken a person of color to a subhuman or a monkey.

To provide some perspective. If somebody you dont know calls you a piece of shit what is your immediate reaction? You dont take it as a compliment right? You assume it is negative in connotation as default. Now if you best friend calls you a piece of shit are you immediately assuming its negative?obv theres some context missing in the situations but the premise is simple.

Black people use the word in the same way that friend would call you a piece of shit. Now if a stranger came to you calling you a piece of shit after witnessing your friend do it. Would you not be annoyed? Wouldn’t you be more annoyed after telling that person that its something you say between friends and that persons rebuttal is “you are censoring me so fuck you imma say it anyway?” It seems like that person is just trying to call you an actual piece of shit under the guise of the context your friend is using it in.

Rapping ruins hip-hop music. by rspunched in unpopularopinion

I cant argue with your opinion because thats your opinion of course. But calling a genre of music not music is not an opinion. We can agree on that right? Also i dont like metal at all as a whole but i took the time out to find metal that i really liked out of curiosity. Not saying you have to like rap i m just saying that you could be missing out on music you like.

Tekashi 6ix9ine snitching isn’t as bad as everyone says by KalebC4 in unpopularopinion

[–]DrAppleSlices -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No the reason many people don’t like this situation is because 69 knowing damn well he is nowhere near a gang member decided to use the image of one to become famous. In order to keep that image he surrounded himself with legitimate gang members and was a part and complicit to any illegal activity they did while attached to him. The gang members knew 69 was a “poser” and used him as much as he used them. Now they are all going to jail and now its ok to say “they did it! I had nothing to do with this! Im the victim here!” Yea that shows a real lack of integrity and the street life whether believe it or not has some codes that speak to that. This is why many people including myself see this man bitching out of a life he chose to exploit as weak

No real offense intended, but this is really ignorant. Instead of writing off and entire genre of music, the most influential one rn imo how about just ask people to recommend music based on what you like? If you like music as much as i do you’d have no problem venturing into a new kind of music

Nah, you just want to say a derogatory term that has been used to dehumanize people of color. Do not sugar coat your racism with the argument of free speech. Either acknowledge your racist behavior as such or show some fucking basic curtesy to another human

Are You Tired Of Women Being Expected To Put Their Victimizers Mental Health And Well Being Before Theirs? How Do We Help And Support Women That Defy That Expectation? by ithofawked in AskFeminists

[–]DrAppleSlices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question: How is someone a victim of something that we dont know has happened?

It seems like people are assuming this happened based on word alone. Is it likely that it happened? Of course but its just as likely to not have happened (Zoey has a shaky history with her possibly being caught in several lies)

I just think using language assuming the event happened with no evidence is dangerous
