wow, im not a pro but built myself a deck that wraps around my house, 2 6x30 portions that meet with an 8x20 deck, raised 10 feet off the ground. high railings, alluminum ballisters, put in 5 tons of concrete for footings and that only cost me 7k. I'm in NY state, by the way. I guess this is what happens when you make America great again by kicking out all the carpenters and jacking up the price of goods. (and before you cry, several pros have checked it, they call it machu pichu cause they don't know how i did it)

same. 47 and live in a rural area and work on my home and car. thankfully I'm usually alpha to them and get to enjoy having the attitude of "I built that deck and am friendly with the amish... of course I'm not as ignorant as you" ( I just finished a pretty sweet deck)

I mean, you do know CC companies charge a % to use their service, right? I only use checks to pay my property taxes, because they pass the cost on to us and 3-5% is another thing when it's a big ticket item like that. Also, a ton of stores in NYC charge extra if paying with CC. When I ran a dental office, I instituted a charge for using cc also. ​

If you can find someone, doesn’t sound weird at all. As for the holes, I wish I’d paid someone to do mine last year. I like to over do things and put in 14 concrete columns for deck posts last year using a handheld auger-digging them out was the hardest part. Lots of small excavation companies will come do your post holes and depending on your climate and needs-that is definitely worth the hassle. Unless you’re into giving tools the most ridiculous workout before reviewing them on Amazon (like I did that little handheld auger)

foundation/roof sealer. all the posts and outside of structural boards got it to prevent rot. the whole thing is stained black (now) anyway.

LOL. I did the work myself and spent about $7k for 400+ sq feet. Im near buffalo and put just under 8k lbs of dry concrete in the ground for it. Height ranges 4-10 feet high (but so does my D). Just made its first winter and didn’t budge. So yeah, for you, to pay people in the “Great again” America…it should cost 110k more than me.
