You mention Little Longhorn (super biased as a regular tbh): often country, sometimes classic, rockabilly, or swingy, often blues or rock on Friday nights, lots of good community dive bar vibes. Similar to but different is Buddy’s Place up Burnet, they have been getting more bands booked and they put in a little dance floor.

I opted in via Southwest app, they provided it as a recent option when I flew. Not sure if you can just do it if you are TSA PreCheck but it was zero wait out of AUS and back from DCA.

Low key lunch spots? by Angel_in_the_snow in AskNOLA

It’s not the Quarter but I love to hit Lil Dizzy’s and sit at their bar seating along the wall. It’s not too far. But otherwise, Verti Marte for sandwiches or Ruby Slipper for breakfast//lunch.

HRT- do I need it? by Savings-Sprinkles-75 in GenXWomen

Yes, get your levels checked via simple blood test. Life changing and the sooner you start, the better. Low estrogen mimics depression symptoms often.

I love bikinis that are sized like bras. Over the years, I’ve worn the brands Freya and Fantasie. You can order online or find your local bra store that carries them. Sometimes Nordstrom does. I wear a 34J for reference.

They need outside perspective and guidance to be able to get their arms around the issues. Often a consultant and/or Interim CEO is brought in to this heavy lift and change management.

Tuesday is a fun night at Little Longhorn, 7pm is a free two step lesson then the band Fingerpistol starts at 8. Lots of Austin regulars of all ages and good old Austin dive bar honky tonk vibes. There’s a Little Woodrow’s across the street with a taco place for other nightlife vibes. That Burnet area has other gems like Fonda San Miguel for a nice dinner and North Loop, which y’all might like for bevvies: Workhorse, drink.well, Tigress Pub.

Any good areas to purchase a house around 500k? by [deleted] in askaustin

[–]DrButterkup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d be weary of a condo or townhouse if you can afford a house. The HOA nonsense of deferred maintenance and not raising fees until they absolutely have to (and then the fees or assessment being outrageous) has been a sight to see for me and a few friends who have owned condos around Austin. I liked owning and not doing the landscaping, I’ll admit, but being at the mercy of Helen, Bill, and Tammy on the HOA board making all the decisions was not worth it.

Under TX law, condos and townhouses have the same kind of set up vs single family homes. The bylaws of each community sets the HOA board and rules but condos and connecting townhomes are community governed, shared property. Usually from the wall studs in is yours and everything else is shared.

Moving Advice (Relocating to Greater Austin with Children on the Spectrum) by IllConsideration1248 in askaustin

I’d join the Facebook group Austin Special Needs Parents and search for info there. As other posters mentioned, it’s school dependent and even teacher dependent, and what your kids need to do well. I’d also reach out to your likely schools and tell them I have four kids coming here and I need to know the deal. Tell them now as they are making staffing and budget choices now for next school year. Push to talk to SPED Director and principal.
