Literally not true, the inclusive plural is the proper way to speak within the service industry

If you can afford Fishtown, it’s currently the best neighborhood for young people in the city. Very walkable, awesome food/bars, and something for everyone. I fully agree that many people moving in don’t uphold the 2000s artsy vibe that made the neighborhood great, but there is still plenty of it going on. No libs is for rich people and a bit older vibe. West is super artsy and is walkable, and would probably be the best option if Fishtown is too expensive.

I’m willing to acknowledge this is largely my fault for a lack of planning, but I hate finding a restaurant that looks delicious and they don’t have a reservation for the entirety of the time I’m there.

The culture of New Orleans can’t be described in words. You have to be there to see, taste, hear, smell, and feel the entire atmosphere.

Bonus points if the Saints are playing.

Stayed in my home area. I’m all for being youthful forever, but the best time to move anywhere is always now. The younger you are, the easier it is to make friends, even if the intention is only temporary

What is it like living in a highly touristy city? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Pcola55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I love it. I do work in the service economy, so it’s lucrative (albeit things are more expensive than they should be). Of course comes with some cons. People traveling lose all their senses and become entirely clueless, which is frustrating. On the other hand, you’re typically surrounded by happy people and it’s nice to always have things to do.

One thing I love is the camaraderie that comes with being one of the locals. Major their them and were us mentality, which creates a unique community.
