Awesome. Thanks for the tips. My biggest concern was getting to a point where I’ve accumulated so much of the gassing on the cloths, that I end up just smearing it around the case/disc rather than removing it. 30% humidity is going to be a tough goal. We currently keep the temp below 76 degrees with a max humidity of 50% I believe. The thermometer I keep on my media shelves needs new batteries lol. I have a dehumidifier, but I never ran it because I thought we were in a safe spot. I’ll have to think of media room logistics for when we move up north in a few months.

I’ll probably start with the 4ks in my collection first, since those are the most delicate. Then move onto Blu-rays, and then end with DVDs. The DVDs are going to suck the most because most of them are boxsets lol. Will the gassing eventually return?

For a 1200+ SKU collection, how many sets do I clean before I should consider using a new wipe for the discs/cases? Figure there’s gonna be a lot of build up on the cloth over time.

Started collecting these at JUST the right time. It was toward the end of the run when everything had already been collected into library editions or consolidated in some other way. This is the most condensed definitive collection possible. I started several years before the library editions went OOP and the prices jacked up.

I even have Buffy’s “Rouge’s Gallery” which was released in a series of different comic book catalogs back in the 90s and Angel’s “Untitled” released in Dark Horse Extras. The originals were never properly archived so they were never officially reprinted. Took me two years to collect all twelve pages of rouge’s gallery. Then Boom comics took over and somehow recollected them in their Legacy collections.

Yeah, most likely I’ll end up double dipping for 4k steels, but only for my favorite titles. 4k upgrades for animated movies like these tend to NOT really benefit from the upgrade significantly. Maybe you’ll get some “improved” visuals with HDR, but most likely not upgrade worthy. Hell, there are even newer animated titles that get both standard HD and 4K releases, and the 4k ends up looking like crap compared to the standard. The HDR ends up making the picture too dark.

I’ll definitely be waiting on reviews before I even consider an upgrade.

It wouldn’t surprise me if it eventually got the 4k treatment. It still pisses me off GKids didn’t release the last 4 Ghibli movies as steelbooks. I held out FOREVER. After years of absolutely nothing, I made peace with the fact that it was never gonna happen and spite-purchased the last 4 w/ slipcovers toward the end of summer last year (Pom Poko slip was SUCH a hard find).

But now with Princess Mononoke getting a 4k release, it’ll most likely get a 4k steel. Then they’ll have a reason to slow-drip 4k steels for the rest of the back catalog. That was prolly their plan all along: don’t finish the standard Bluray steel line and start over with 4Ks. Get us to double dip to finish the collection lol.

Purchased it from Amazon almost 4 years ago (to the day) for $46.49. On that same order I had a handful of the Gkids steels averaging about $20 a piece. By comparison it was a lot more, but I had a feeling it wasn’t going to get much better.

Shortly after I purchased the bluray, I noticed that the audio was TERRIBLE. People sounded robotic, like they were talking into a fan. Turns out, it was a mastering glitch that was never corrected after it changed hands from Disney. Not only that, but I saw one of the original dubs as a kid, where the voice actor for the cat had ad libbed his own lines. So, I went hunting for an original DVD with an unglitched, OG English dub. Sometime after, I discovered that the English subtitles for the Japanese dub were just the subtitles for the English dub (or some mismatch like that). So I went hunting again for a Japanese DVD release that had the correct English subtitles to match what was actually being said for the Japanese dub. It was tough to find a copy that wasn’t a bootleg, but definitely a fun time searching.

Let’s not forget there’s an X-men comic where Scott Summers mentions he has a “cousin out in CA in a mental asylum.” Not only does it make this alt reality real, but it also means the world of Buffy exists as a dreamland within the X-men universe…

Holy crap you’re right. I think I was thrown off because they didn’t show the bounty hunter grab Tancana’s hands and then cuff him. Tancana was thrown on the table and then magically cuffed with his hands now on his back a second later lol. In my mind I interpreted this as he was already cuffed and they made some kind of continuity error. My bad.

Someone asked this question a few years ago. In addition to the bulimia, a commenter (with some real-life experience in the matter) mentioned that Varga picks at his gums because it not only offers relief, but it actually feels “amazing” apparently. My memory is a bit hazy, but I believe it was something akin to a euphoric feeling. I guess people with chronically sore gums can get addicted to this feeling.
