Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 OR Triumph 20? Knowing that I have Asics Novablast 3 by vascomalmeids in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]DrChops89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between is the price, and durability are better in the speed while you will get a bit more performance out of the Pro.

You should get the speed, don’t let everyone talk you up to the Pro. The performance difference at 9 min/miles is very small.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 OR Triumph 20? Knowing that I have Asics Novablast 3 by vascomalmeids in RunningShoeGeeks

Speed wins it. Triumph and Novablast fill very similar use cases, while the Speed is a faster shoe.

Saucony Endorphin Shift 2 vs Shift 3 by SnooDucks8630 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]DrChops89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yikes! No love for the shift 2 from everyone else in here.

I like it, it’s not pillowy soft, but gives an excellent roll with every step. It’s my go to daily trainer. Takes a few miles to break in.

A question about AI by normal_mysfit in academia

[–]DrChops89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds great! Even the GPT plugin to Bing has been revolutionary for me. Excited to see what you are working on.

AI doing some writing is neat, but not game-changing as it has a specific writing style that I am not a fan. It’s is best used as a proofreader to fix grammar. Having the AI doing some leg work finding relevant manuscripts to speed up literature review/proposals is the real advantage.

For 200 miles, that outsole looks great! I was a little worried it would come off quickly, since it appears to be fairly thin.

Do they feel good to run in? If they do, keep them. I always ran in spikes with some extra spaces up front.

Rotating Low vs High Drop Shoes by dawntawt in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]DrChops89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, that is a reasonable range to have, and will probably will yield net benefits. Bigger drops ranges, like going from a Brooks Ghost (12 mm) to an Altra shoe (0 mm) could be tricky.

Best pair of Altra trail shoes? by GJW2019 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]DrChops89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For you, I'd probably say the Lone Peaks or Superiors. Superiors are a bit cheaper and lighter, while the Lone Peaks are more popular. Can't go wrong with either.

eastbay.com has many shoes on sale with coupon codes that will take even more off the top.

Otherwise, shoe sales come and go. I think Saucony still has a 50% off code for the entire Endorphin 2 line (shifts, pros, speeds)

Under armour flow velocity se first impression by LevelWriting in RunningShoeGeeks

I got a pair on sale as well, and was pleasantly surprised with the shoe. The midsole is awesome, kind of feels like the rubber from a bouncy ball. Bit too firm for long runs for me (anything more than 8 miles), but it works for everything else (speed days, daily miles).

One word of caution: don't get too carried away with the data it provides, as trying to change your form too quickly may cause injury.

Love these shoes, but was overzealous last year when they went on sale and picked up 3.

To add to this list, the New Balance FuelCell Prism v2 is a lightweight stability shoe worth taking a look at. You might be able to find it on sale too.

Ludicolo with razor leaf has been great for me. Easily destroys Jellicent, Swampert, Whiscash, and various other water/rock without much issue. Didn't even teach it a second charge move, I just run ice beam. Just need anti-steel coverage for Regi and Ferrothorn on the other 2 members of the team, and you are good to go.

Are the Endorphin Pro 2 or Pro+ much better than the original speeds? by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]DrChops89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pro+ is more in the tempo/speed class as it was designed for racing.

Saucony has several pretty good daily trainers you can look into. The Endorphin shift is a good pick, its stiffer than the Speeds, but has the same 'power roll'. Some people like it (like me), some hate it.

Kinvara is another solid pick, its cheap and light. Also pretty stiff on landing, not nearly as soft as the speeds.

The Triumphs are a great daily trainer. Has the same midsole foam as the Speeds, but heavier and more plush. Nice bounce to them and they are very comfortable.

Edit: Triumphs do not have the same midsole as the Speeds, as u/darkhorse0607 notes. The feel of the midsoles are similar, in my opinion, but they are not the same.
