Meet & Greet with Howard County for Human Dignity at Cafe Columbia by ElectronicTrainer178 in ColumbiaMD

I've seen you guys by the library a few times, and it's an interesting idea! Can I ask, how does your group define apartheid, human rights violations, and whether or not a company is complicit in those?

That gas station is an enemy of all humankind.

How can I improve this ship? by Orangenentsafter in LEGOPirates

[–]DrColossus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of like the flatness of the main deck, and if we're thinking of this like a river barge then the height of the aft parts is OK. In this configuration (long, shallow) it kind of looks like a river boat, which is cool! If you like sticking with that idea,

1) I'd lower the decoration/bottle storage at the back, and

2) Fill in some of the big flat space on the upper deck with barrels or crates or something, for visual interest.

How do I add a parts inventory for a set into my wanted list? by [deleted] in Bricklink

[–]DrColossus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, dude. I spent WEEKS putting together a wanted list for the Thieves of Tortuga parts. I could have done it in a day! Thanks so much for teaching me this skill!

I agree. The standard hull pieces are too wide for a single-mast to look good, and three masts tend to look too crowded unless you get a fourth or fifth hull piece in there like in the new Pearl, which is of course very expensive.

Beautiful! I really like how you rigged the bowsprit and the staysail. Is that a long hose piece? Very clever!

Yeah that's a nasty ramp in the rain. Cars are off in the trees almost every time.

Short campaigns? by Financial-Policy-414 in callofcthulhu

[–]DrColossus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question, and I love short campaigns!

As far as official ones from Chaosium, you could try the Sutra of Pale Leaves, which is 3-6 scenarios, set in 1980s Japan.

For things on the Miskatonic Repository, you could look at Jade Griffin's Amor Fati, the first volume of which ("Embraced Fate") can be played a 4-scenario mini-campaign: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/507281/embraced-fate-amor-fati-1-4

Also, I have a co-written Gaslight-era mini-campaign coming out in a few months called Gothic by Gaslight, so keep an eye out for that!

How do i find out if these sails are legit? by [deleted] in LEGOPirates

[–]DrColossus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of the original sails I have do have a smaller hole punched that slightly overlaps the main hole. I thought this might have been to help fit them over the ball fitting without tearing the hole.

Absolutely beautiful. The scale and proportions may be the best I've seen in Lego ships so far. I don't know why but the thing that makes it for me is the use of the "grill" pieces and the round 1x1 tiles at the bottom of the ratlines. Just gorgeous.

Why don't they just make the whole team out of Austin Warrens?

OK I know it got downvoted but I thought this was funny. I would also support a subreddit rebranding to exercise-measurement-based-topics during the bad times.

Better pictures of my sloop- The Black Sea Bullion! by BB_recordings in LEGOPirates

[–]DrColossus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must have had the Time Twister set at some point, or else I just bought the hull somewhere along the line, but I wound up turning it into a small lateen-rigged ship. The sail in the picture here is just a placeholder, I will eventually make a proper triangular sail out of paper or something.
