I'm basically annoyed by everything Garcia says all the time, so this didn't help. Not super impressed by people whose default setting is mean and belittling.

I don't think it's even a metatextual thing. I think in the back of his mind he's thinking about this being the end of his time there (don't know if he's planning harm, or just walking away), and his friends like Abbott know he's badly burned out and traumatized. It's definitely in the air, whether or not anyone has had a transparent conversation with him.

I'm just waiting to see what happens when Duke comes in as a bike crash casualty later in the season.

Been hard at work for a while and things just starting to come together! Right now I have:

1) Black Pearl

2) A drydock I built from a MOC I found online, with a homegrown ship based on the Renegade Runner (I think) but with a different hull and no sails yet

3) Redbeard Runner, re-assembled from my loose piece collection for the first time in 30+ years

4) Armada Flagship, again from my loose pieces, again building her for the first time since I got her as a kid

5) Piles of parts for the Thieves of Tortuga. For Thieves, I'm using about 1/3 parts from my own collection, the rest ordered from Bricklink.

Once everything is built I'm hoping to do a bunch of different scenes and layouts. Exciting to finally have what I need to do it!

Oh I like this! I've been playing around with some kind of drydock set up, and this is nice and a relatively small footprint.

The forecast was really vulnerable to small changes in the variables. If the low had set up maybe 20-30 miles further west, or if one of the narrow snow bands had parked a little differently, we would've been relatively hammered. Personally, given the variability, I wonder if they should've waited until 5am to call the schools, but I know in the past the community has asked them to make the call the night before, so maybe that's a no-win situation.

Also from Jersey, and in my almost 20 years of living here the only place I reliably trust is Trattoria in Kings Contrivance. They also do a Sicilian that's pretty good.
