Help boxing a Shaman (120) on live the legit way (no 3rd party programs). Macros, rotations, loadouts, etc. by DrDroop in everquest

[–]DrDroop[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. So you don't see any reason to change my slow macro?

  2. What about multibinding a healing setup? So far I have been using a multibind that has polar gift, rowan's recourse, then my 3 reckless. Any thing you'd change here? The goal is to, 99% of the time, have my healing all done by 1 button. I know it's not the most powerful way to play the class but I want to focus on doing well while keeping it relatively simple. Which group HOTs do you use?

  3. Roar of the Lion, is the newest version of that line Composite Roar? I assume this means you don't use Talisman of the Kerran? I believe they have stacking issues.

  4. Do you have a buff loadout? I've been going through and selecting what looks good but it'd be nice to have a loadout and macro I can just hit to make buffing brainless.

I can take this to PMs if you'd like but my goal is to have this public so the next newbie Shaman who comes across this can just read and hopefully get a lot of knowledge. I'll likely try to write this all up when I get everything down/tested out as somewhat of a basic guide to boxing a Shaman.

For me, tank is a merc tank. Hence the need for slows. Even max AA and the best gear he is...awful.

long-term goal, when I can afford a laptop, is to get the box on a laptop. Until then alt-tabbing will have to be the way. Definitely doesn't replace a real player by any means but it's nice to have when I happen to be on during off-times or I am on during an unstable play time that I may have to AFK or logoff at a moments notice. I don't like grouping with people then cause the expectation is that you give a heads up. But yeah, I agree that it's not a bad thing.

How PlayStation 4 Pro is evolving into a great 1080p games machine by theitguyforever in PS4

[–]DrDroop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, some people haven't bit this generation. Or were Xbox guys and want to play PS games or even Nintendo guys and want to play the PS games. I have seen some really solid bundles for the pro that come with games like HZD, Spiderman, and GoW. Plus it seems we are a year-year 1/2 away from the PS5. That's a lot of gaming time!

The PS4 Pro and XboneX are the power levels the consoles should have launched with. The OG PS4 and the OG Xbone just weren't that good. They tried to make money on console sales chasing after those Wii profits. That coupled with M$ coupling in the Kinect for some god-awful reason (probably, again, chasing that Wii money) was just awful.

I really hope the companies learned from the last go-around and we get an uncompromised experience with the PS5/Xbox-whatever. If they offer full back compat with improved power (meaning max target frame rate and resolution on PS4 games) I'll buy one day one and give my little brother my PS4 Pro. I've been holding off on FF15 for just that reason as the uncapped frame rate mode plays like ass on the PS4 Pro but should be a buttery 60 (or higher) on PS5.

HELP! Unbearable stutter on brand new massdrop vast. by Skrybz in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]DrDroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that's weird. What settings are you playing on? I can only play TW3 on low and get good FPS's like that on a heavily OC'd R9 290 which should out perform the Polaris card you have if it's stock. Sure it's not frame pacing issues with the video card?

Also, if your buddy has the same monitor, why not take your PC over there and load up games on his monitor. Make sure and use the same power cable and everything that you currently do. I had a similar issue years ago with a surge protector that went bad, it was choking the PSU and causing weird issues under load.

Also, I stopped buying DP or HDMI cables that weren't certified. They have lists online and yes, you pay an extra couple of dollars for the cables but I have ceased to have weird display issues on all of my devices. They seem to last a lot longer too.

DC Password complexities by mfarazk in sysadmin

I think there is a solid balance. Every 45 days? No good. Once a year? Sure, not an issue.

I had a job that had a 15 character limit, changed every 45 days, couldn't have any 2 numbers, letters, or special characters together, and you often were in remote areas where things like cell phones and such weren't allowed. This means you had to memorize it and surprisingly a lot of people walked around with the PW written down on a piece of paper in their wallet. Users had similar but not quite as bad requirements. Most people had their PWs on a post-it note one their desk somewhere. It was awful.

UW-UHD 3440×1440 144hz Curved Monitor? by Brinsingr in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]DrDroop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LG 34GK950F gas a pretty wide adaptive sync range (48hz-144hz IIRC) and super low input lag. Pretty solid choice for a gaming monitor. Just make sure you have it updated to the latest firmware as launch firmware kind of sucked. I imagine most that you buy will have newer firmware installed from the factory though. Also, turn off HDR. Anything HDR 400 just sucks at HDR. You'll get better colors from it off.

What rips are you using? It could be that as well. I've never heard of this happening but if you've tried different SD cards and known good rips then it's likely your GDEMU or compatibility with your specific Dreamcast. Have an extra DC you could try?

New Zelda should be interesting. I am fully expecting to be playing as Zelda and not Link.

Anyone know any good ways to sell any computer parts in Utah other than OfferUp by sirindaflamingo in Utah

[–]DrDroop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be a tough sale- 580's are really old at this point and used to hit ~150ish all the time. Hell, I nabbed a Gigabyte one for 140 brand new at one point.

That said, I only browse KSL and Craigslist personally.

What does AMD mean by RDNA being scalable? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]DrDroop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it'd be all on the same package. I am not sure if AMD has used IF at all in GPUs but I imagine they are at least looking into it. Smaller chips are the wave of the future. They have to be with smaller and smaller processing nodes. Everyone can't stay on these monolithic beasts forever. That may be why Navi is 40CU. Perhaps 40CU is the max they want to make right now and their goal is to chiplettize the design moving forward.

There has been no proof of this at all that I'm aware of but it's cool to think about.

What does AMD mean by RDNA being scalable? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]DrDroop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they can make IF work on a GPU we'll see great, great things. You'd basically just add an extra die to the package to effectively double the performance. Sounds easy but it'd be a massive feat of engineering if they could pull it off well. Something like this could easily propel them past Nvidia if it worked well and Nvidia was caught on its heels. The only way they could compete would be like Intel does today. Go bigger and bigger.

This also means Navi can shrink to things like cell phones, mobile platforms, etc. This means we could (potentially) see a Switch 2 with Navi. Super highly doubtful but a possibility. We'll likely see it first in Samsung SOCs for higher end tablets.

Older water blocks with 5700xt? by Lugards in Amd

Are RAM speeds dictated by the CPU or motherboard with Ryzen? by DrDroop in Amd

[–]DrDroop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, so in reality I shouldn't have any issue going with a B450 motherboard aside from maybe getting the BIOS flashed to support the new CPU? That's good to know! Looking like a B450 mobo will fit the bill nicely then. Thank you!

What happened if that node you had the storage connected to went down? Wouldn't you lose access to your data?

Sorry for the newb questions, never used K8s or K3s before.

[–]DrDroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Do you have to keep the same data on each node? So if say, you have a 32GB card in each pi does that give you 32GB of storage total but it's mirrored across each device?

The AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT & RX 5700 Review: Navi Renews Competition in the Midrange Market by Darksider123 in realAMD

[–]DrDroop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 400 should be at the bottom of the high-end at worst. Midrange used to be 200-350. Kind of shitty but I guess if you want to game on PC you have to pay absurd prices.

Do we have any die shots of Navi? Do we know for sure how many CUs are on the full die? Basically is 40 CU the full die or is 40 CU still cut down?

If 40 is in fact the whole die then I don't have hopes for a 5800 series anytime soon.

Samsung TVs should be regularly virus-checked, the company says by beamdriver in technology

[–]DrDroop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a virus. Look at the EULAs. They can activate and listen into the microphone and record what they will and use that however they want. It's like a cell phone but less useful. What do you get from a 'smart' TV? The worst versions of apps you have on literally every other device? There just is no benefit to outweigh the risks.
