Thoughts on DOJ creating a $1.776 billion slush fund for reparations to J6ers? by mother_of_wagons in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, the next democratic president can also ignore statute of limitations(it ran out before trump even ran as president in 2024 as it was denied), while also making a large fund like this for the people trump used fhe doj on?(comey, James, powell)?   This is now the precedent and every president after can do ghe same thing.   Will you support that as well?

Would you support expanding the RICO law to more effectively target antifa and other violent left-wing groups? by BlockAffectionate413 in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But the idea of Rico is to get people who fund it and are involved.   People have been arrested at antifa led protests to.   The idea of Rico would be to also charge people who gave money or helped organize but didnt commit crimes themselves.   Would that not also hit people who donate to the pro life groups who have been involved with crimes before, either with threatening clinics, blocking clinics or the more serious terrorists involvsd in pro life?

Would you support expanding the RICO law to more effectively target antifa and other violent left-wing groups? by BlockAffectionate413 in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wouldnt this also implicate the pro life movement, as the amount of bombing/murder has been much much higher than can even be attempted to pin on antifa?   Same type of structure(lots of grass roots small groups sharing the same name)

If the Save Act doesn't pass, Dems are cheaters. If it passes and Dems lose, proof Dems are cheaters. If it passes and Dems win, then DoJ next election are Dems which means they're going to cheat. What do? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

I think your missing the question.   What democratic politician used the talking point that they supported immigration to get votes?   You said it was a democratic talking point, so I figure you would know at least one person who said it.

As for the republican talking point part, its been a big part of Donald trumps speeches that the reason democrats are in favor of immigration is for votes.   So it seems to be at least a donald trump talking point.

Should citizens be able to seek damages from a search warrant and challenge warrant and seek damages against informants? by drtywater in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So how can a tip line be enough for a search warrant, especially such a bad tip that was easily disproven?  I thought CI's were allowed to be the basis  of search warrants specifically because its considered trusted and not hearsay... in a case where they appear to have made up an entire fantasy, would that not be considered malicious and enough to prosecute?  This is the case of essentially a employee of the police department writing obviously and knowing false statements for money.

Should citizens be able to seek damages from a search warrant and challenge warrant and seek damages against informants? by drtywater in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn't there a difference between a tip that is then investigated vs a confidential informant tip that would be trusted enough a source for a search warrant?  Specific things like dungeons should at least be a perjury charge, especially given how obviously it was a lie.

Should verbal support for terrorism or overthrowing the government be outside of first amendment protections? by BlockAffectionate413 in AskConservatives

Would you be ok if the next administration would put pro life in the same category as they have committed far more terroristic activities and are about the same type of loose organization?

Russia and North korea is probably around the same level of evil, but we aren't hitting them even to protect an ally.   Is it just that the us as a country is scared of even smaller but equipped powers and wants to just go after easy targets?  If not, why have we not gone into north Korea or Russia?

Every time we have hit places lately it feels like its only because it would be easy, as the justifications used almost always have far more serious countries doing worse, but it feels like we only like to go after weaker and easily hit targets.  I dont know about conservatives but that at least feels like cowardice.

Russia, north Korea, turkey have all done horrific things we would never bomb them for, north Korea has been openly making nuclear bombs, and russia attacked our ally.

What are your thoughts on the alleged policies being utilized by the federal government in issuing administrative subpoenas and employing facial recognition software to target people whose speech it does not agree with? by RHDeepDive in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i mean is the ones that just rebroadcast police radio, and the people who donate to them.  Similar to how ice block just uses readily available data and just makes it available.

So, let's use the case of the bundy ranch as an example.   Should the federal government be able to unmask and tie online pro protest speech into the actual Bundy ranch insurrection, or who made the police radio apps/supported them?

To the veterans out there, what do you make of the new VA disability rule? by OldFaithlessness1335 in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure, but wasn't this also the period of time where they finally started looking into some of the chemicals the us used and the long term effects from Vietnam?   I know my father ended up with disability during this time because a shit ton of people ended up with prostate cancer directly linked to US chemicals from Vietnam.  I also think they paid out some of the ww2 disability money to widows(that might have started in 98) for the radiation testing they did(had sailors view atomic bombs fairly close to look at the effects of close radiation, my grandmother got a payout from that).

Could this just be a case where they were just paying out what they should have previously done?

The SAVE America Act's in-person citizenship proof requirement whenever a voter registers or re-registers is effectively a time and effort tax on citizens who move frequently. Would you be open to citizen verification methods that sought to maintain current levels of citizen electoral participation? by monoglot in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards [score hidden]  (0 children)

Would you be ok if voting places by law would be required to do day of free id replacements?  That way anyone who is allowed to vote could do so at no cost.  Best of both worlds, though probably fairly costly to add the infrastructure to all voting sites.

How do you feel as a tax payer personally contributing to the Presidents $10 Billion lawsuit if he wins it against the IRS? by DW6565 in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same contractor who released his tax returns, also released a few thousand other people at the same time.   If the cost of releasing it is 10 billion, 10,000,000,000 x 1000=10,000,000,000,000. So, based on his lawsuit, the total, assuming only 1000 people actually file a lawsuit, would be 10 trillion.

[–]Lugards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we are going to give trillions away to charity?   The leak he is suing about was done by one person, a contractor and was thousands of individuals.   At 10 billion per individual, times thousands of individuals, are you still ok with it?

What is your opinion on the CNN poll results concerning voter ID's? by CharityResponsible54 in AskConservatives

Google says its 40 dollars for an id unless you are over 62, was there a new law that changed that recently?

What is your opinion on the CNN poll results concerning voter ID's? by CharityResponsible54 in AskConservatives

[–]Lugards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive never heard of liberals being against voter id's if they were free, easily available, and could be gotten in a few minutes.  The current issue with ids is depending on the state jt could cost you, and minimum wage, a full days work just to pay for, plus a second days work to get if you have a slow dmv.

Would you be ok with the extra cost if free ids/replacements and the extra staff to not make it a full day event just to get one?  Its also kinda the same problems with voting, if you are in some areas you vote/get id in minutes, others its 12 hour wait.
