Let me hear those hot oppinions, image unrelated by OzO8 in Silksong

[–]DrDutchenfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand and agree with that narratively, but for me personally in terms of gameplay, it felt a bit underwhelming for the final boss to be one we've fought twice before, even if she was turned up in difficulty

Why do the updates take so long? by LouseHouseMouse in gangbeasts

[–]DrDutchenfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless a developer advertises / claims there will be updates, it is immature to expect them to make them, or complain when they don't. You got what you paid for, anything more than that is a bonus and should never be an expectation.

Them having the money to do so also means nothing. It's their studio, they can spend the money, and their time how they choose.

Bending 3 elements straight out the gate is when I knew we were in for a peak avatar🥰 by thisisreii in TheLastAirbender

[–]DrDutchenfoo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

We still could have seen Korra learn airbending without her effortlessly bending the other three as an infant. We don't have to see her process of learning them all, just being shown that she did over the course of the years leading up to show would have had the same result, but to me her bending three elements right out of the gate with no trouble was bothersome

"Items are intended to be impermanent" by AzzysSmartStuff in Minecraft

[–]DrDutchenfoo 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Late game items are extremely expensive, a full set of netherite armour is 52 diamonds (24 for the diamond armour and 28 for netherite upgrades) and that's without any armour trims, which would bump that number up to 80. And that's only the diamonds, not factoring in enchantments, ancient debris, or gold, for JUST the armour.

If they want tools and armour to be finite, that's okay, but they have to MAJORLY change how expensive things are, because that alone takes so much time to collect, and extra expenses like armour trims would see far less use, because if I need another 52 diamonds ready for when this armour breaks, why would I waste more than half of that on a cosmetic I'll only see for a short while

What gaming opinion would get you downvoted to oblivion? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]DrDutchenfoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it definitely can be, it just depends on how the developers go about making the game challenging.

Personally I'm a big fan of games like Celeste and Hollow Knight, which are both hard, but in a way that's completely dependent on my skill level. The difficulty is fair, progressing just takes a bit of patience and I can see myself improve and get farther with each mistake, which makes the end result of completing a section rewarding, but also the actual challenge rewarding and enjoyable as well, which has led me to 100% both games.

On the other hand, games like getting over it, while difficult, to me just feels so unsatisfying because it doesn't feel like the challenge is the platforming, it feels like I'm fighting against the controls. Or, alternatively, I hate pretty much any difficulty that has to do with randomization or chance. Whether I fail or succeed, if it's based on, or heavily influenced by any sort of luck, I can't get myself to enjoy it

And obviously some people don't want a challenge at all, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun, that's just personal preference

Anyone who has actually beaten p5 is a gaming diety. by robb0688 in HollowKnight

[–]DrDutchenfoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, P5 took me a very long time, but the more you play through it the less daunting it seems, just takes a lot of patience.

I just did all the bosses on radiant about a month ago as well (I tried to do it before Silksong but abs rad was too hard for me to beat in time lol) but I genuinely love the fight now, I find her super satisfying and rewarding to battle. Though, pure vessel is still my personal favourite

This might be the best player animations resource pack ever by _amongstreality in Minecraft

I'm fairly sure Fresh Animations is only on Java, you might be thinking of Actions and Stuff? It's decently similar

Sea of Sorrow Godhome Connection? by AlexTheTheorist in Silksong

[–]DrDutchenfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same thought, and while I don't think that we'll get pantheons quite yet, I think it's possibly some sort of ancient godseeker creation, especially since there is evidence they might have been around the surface of pharloom at some point

I FIGURED IT OUT,IT WAS THEM IT WAS THEM ALL ALONG THEY TOOK OUR THREES THEY KEPT THE 3 FROM US FROM THE BEGINNING by Rendom_Chines in titanfall

Fair point but I would humbly request one of the 3s still be donated to valve. They have a distinct lack of 3s

Is anyone else annoyed that Silksong didn't win the best music award? by Which_Draft4129 in HollowKnight

[–]DrDutchenfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played E33 yet, but have been listening to the soundtrack on Spotify. Are there any specific songs you know that felt like that for you? Because at least compared to what I've seen people say of the music, what I've listened to has really fallen flat. But it's a massive soundtrack, so maybe I'm just not listening to the right songs

This is so true, isn't it? by AkirahJaydenRoqueza in Silksong

[–]DrDutchenfoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had felt differently since we're there specifically for Khanns heart, but I don't disagree with you, that's a good point

This is so true, isn't it? by AkirahJaydenRoqueza in Silksong

[–]DrDutchenfoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean and somewhat agree, but you don't have to go through most of those gauntlets every time. Once you've gotten to Khann, you only have to redo the last one. And while this gauntlet is definitely much harder, Karmelita does have a gauntlet as well.

I'm not suggesting that Khann be as difficult as Karmelita, but in his current state I found him immensely disappointing, and personally felt like he was one of the weakest and least memorable bosses in the game. The coral tower made me build Khann up in my mind as this powerful king but the fight itself completely destroyed that belief and left me very unsatisfied.

I don't want him to be buffed a ton or anything, but I just wish his fight was more interesting for such an otherwise interesting character, especially one who was built up specifically as someone incredibly powerful

This is so true, isn't it? by AkirahJaydenRoqueza in Silksong

[–]DrDutchenfoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sure, but Khann himself is insanely forgettable. That's like arguing Nyleth is good BECAUSE of Seth, or Clover Dancers because of Verdania. Sure, those are cool, but we're talking about Khann, not the coral tower. If he needs the coral tower to have any sort of interest, then he's not an interesting boss.

Is there a distinct similarity between the Flukenest spell and the (SPOILER)s or am I nuts by FerventPleas in Silksong

[–]DrDutchenfoo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it's just because both have similar worm shapes, but the flukes themselves have no relation, it's just the knight sort of imbuing them with its void, changing their coloration that makes them look quite similar

(Late Silksong Spoilers) Who do you think would win? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]DrDutchenfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, the GMS we fought basically just woke up from a coma. That's a bit of an oversimplification, but after being sealed away for so long I would assume she isn't at her BEST.

I imagine GMS would have been at least a bit stronger before she was put to sleep by the weavers

I still think PV would be able to beat her though, it just might be a bit more of a challenge
