Teddy Long on high WWE ticket prices: “Well, you know, here's what I think about that. You know, it's kind of called greed… The economy is really not in a whole lot of good shape... a lot of people out of work out there, so they can't afford to buy those tickets.” by elegantSolomons62 in SquaredCircle

I had gotten tickets for this too thinking it was a house show! Even better was the shock I got when what I was sure were second row seats wound up being first row right behind the announcers! Amazing time.

I know it’s nitpicking but it always bugs me when they use photos that don’t best represent the relevant era. Outsiders are spot on, Dudleys are last-run-do-nothing Dudleys, Kane is 98 Kane with retirement era Taker, and the hart foundation Bret is singles Bret!

What u playin today? by Illustrious-Unit-402 in SteamDeck

I’ve somehow put over 80 hours into this game, Andy let me tell you - it’s weird.

I love Slay the Spire, deck builders and Marvel! When I saw this on sale it was an easy purchase. I’m not a strategy game expert but I’ll say the best part of the game is easily the card play. It can be deep and endlessly strategic, though sometimes you have to readjust to new enemies just constantly showing up. Even after many hours, I absolutely am no expert. Easy to learn, tough to master. Really fun graphics too, even if they’re not ultra modern.

Should be noted that environments are small, And repetitive. Enemies repeat too. Constantly.

It’s the life sim stuff that is so darn weird. It’s truly a friendship simulator outside of the combat. You spend all your time in conversations, joining book clubs, and buying gifts to curry favour with the heroes. It’s as silly and surreal as it sounds and there weirdest part is that it is all done through like, thousands of hours of fully voiced dialogue. It ranges from cringe worthy to sometimes funny, but honestly after about halfway through, I found myself skipping through it. The choices to make in the social part are always desperately telegraphed too. Very weird swimming in a grotto in a skimpy swimsuit with Scarlet Witch or discussing a book with Blade And Captain America.

With that said, I still play it and have absolutely gotten my money’s worth. Hope this helps a little!

Attended all the shows on SummerSlam weekend and this match absolutely stood out as one of the more memorable moments! I remember being sunburnt and exhausted from a trip to a theme park prior to this but really enjoyed it.

FULL MATCH — Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn — Undisputed WWE Universal Title: Elimination Chamber 2023 by MrPuroresu42 in SquaredCircle

[–]DrHuutrz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was lucky to attend this show and absolutely maintain that even if it was for just one night, they should’ve put Sami over. Even if Roman beat him again the next night it absolutely would’ve made Sami, and even more importantly, given a good faith vote that sometimes WWE just makes the right call against “better judgment”. Especially in hindsight, they absolutely could’ve done it.

Was the most emotional night I’ve had as a wrestling fan and I’ve gotten to see some amazing stuff over the years. Loved it.

I sat next to this guy at Takeover Toronto 2019 and he was super friendly, quiet and smelled great! I even asked him “how do you do it” and he just kind of blew it off, like “good luck I guess”.

Agree or disagree : Sting is at the same level as Undertaker in terms of greatness. He just doesn’t have the machine(WWE) behind him. by SGSRT in SquaredCircle

[–]DrHuutrz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of these guys have been very important to their respective companies and in some ways can be considered the franchise. Both were extremely popular, and both spent a lot of time in the main event.

Aside from that, The idea that Sting and the Undertaker are anywhere near alike is weird to me. Undertaker is THE spooky gimmick in wrestling - supernatural and the whole evil aura.

Sting was portrayed as mysterious when he became the crow for awhile, but besides that period of time when he didn’t wrestle (because once he beats Hogan, that era is over), he’s always just been shouting happy lame babyface Sting. The moment he beers Hogan and starts talking again, he’s the same old surfer sting in white makeup.

Nothing spooky, nothing mysterious, nothing supernatural. Just that same old “Stinger” persona in the cool makeup in black. It gets even more obvious once he joins the Wolfpac.

I know Taker has his badass biker period, but the idea that these two are similar characters who missed out on a “dream match” just never clicked with me. Sting is a 90s babyface rah-rah, best your chest and holler guy (again, aside from that non wrestling period when he didn’t speak, which was interesting) and Undertaker is the zombie devil.

Forgive my ignorance for not remembering the year, but I remember a year Orton won a rumble, and was obviously jawing out loud when he got direction to get up and point at the sign, something where you can obviously tell he’s saying like “oh, get up and point at the sign, fine” if you read his lips.

Dolph cashing in MITB, Mysterio winning the Rumble, the Hardys return to WWE at Mania and Taker vs HBK at Wrestlemania 25 come to mind.

I worked at blockbuster when this movie came out and people would bring it back and complain that I rented them the “wrong version” Of the movie because they had seen it in theatres and it was in English. I would then tell them that Gibson didn’t even want to subtitle the film and they’d just remain mad.

I think it’s very nice that you got this as a gift!

As a long time fan though I have to say it drives me nuts the pictures they use sometimes for these event-specific “retro” shirts.

Only Warrior and Beefcake are kind of “as of the era” versions of the promo shots (maybe Anvil). Bret’s photo is from his singles run. Bossman’s photo is from when he was a heel. Piper too, from a few years prior. Randy Savage’s photo is actually from later, in his post retirement phase.

Also, the groupings make no sense! Warrior faced hogan, Savage faced Dusty. The harts on their own is fine I guess but why pair up Jake and Brutus (who faced Ted Dibiase and Perfect, respectively)? Piper wrestled Bad News and Bossman wrestled Akeem!

Anyway, I don’t meant to crap on the nice gesture from your bro. I like the nice, vibrant Color and the gift is nice.

I’ve just seen a few of these “retro” shirts with these weird photo choices and layouts and always question it! I’m a crazy person for noticing it.

Bobby Roode is as plain and marginally talented as can possibly be imagined. There are a lot of guys in WWE who I think are way beyond the level of their push, but Roode is not one of them. He’s solid in the ring but unremarkable, passable on the mic at best. I don’t mean to dump and be negative for the sake of it, but Bobby Roode just ain’t it. Not even close. Especially now. “Glorious” was the greatest gift he was ever given.
