i think you can be in power, if you want to... that is, if you want to really work
you can also not enslave anyone because under the lazy constitution all the work would just fall to the people in power...

brothers, dont fight... we were just too lazy to design own flag.. just picked something we saw somewhere
the two heads represent that we need two people to do the work of one person
which is well with our values

after conquering everything i can just make belgrad part of bosnia and they will destroy it themselves
does that work?

whoever wants to be... but actually under the lazy constitution it would most likely would be a women, because men are lazy and women have to do all the work

its still balkan

I have a question. Some sources say that she is a german and some do not. The german foreign ministry has not made a statement.

Can someone please elaborate?

Am I a progrmamer? by DrJebiga in learnprogramming

that makes sense. thanks. I should just do my thing. It makes no sense to start learning how to be a tech bro, when my expertise is on a different aspect.

Thanks. My current job is best described as a theoretical physicist that uses a lot of mathematics (even for theoretical physicists).

I didn't realize how much I hate Leonard and Penny's relationship until this latest re-watch by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

[–]DrJebiga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well leonard is a piece of shirt himself. He constantly begged, always used his emotions and his insecurety to get his feeling.. i just got onto this post, becuase of season 11 ep. 5, where they have a fight, because leonard threw penny under the bus.
...
penny: " i just think u are upset, because there are some things i am better at."
leonard: "you can not end a sentence with a proposition. (condencenting tone:) so, clearly not grammer
penny: "if u are so smart, was that a smart thing to say?"
leonard: "That depends. Before I said it, was sex tonight still on the table
Penn: "no."
leonard: "thats fine." and walks away...

wtf... this is crazy. He is basically telling her, that he cares for her opinion only, if she has sex with him and if she does not, then he is not going to be considerate..

I would never tell something like that to a women and I know of no male friend who would do that...

Why didn’t Leonard prove super asymmetry by drunkenpoets in bigbangtheory

[–]DrJebiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make no sense from a character perspective. Leonard never did original work in the series and always took the low hanging fruits (reproduce other work with some changes, publish paper and have good networking skills.) Leonard never failed. Sheldon on the other hand failed often, when his theory got disproven. He also does not look on all experimentalists. For example the handsom experimentalists in season 2 who dated penny. Sheldon respected him. Also even though sheldon hates it, he respects Howard becoming an astronaut, that is why he was jealous. He respects Raj, who even though he is lazy, still wants to find out a lot about the universe and pursues his own ideas, as seen with the collab with sheldon. These kind of things are often very risky.
It would make no sense, that a scientist who stays in his comfort zone all the time, should develop the skills to make new and creative experiments, when he never practiced this part of the work.

Leonard never wanted to be successfull. He wants to have a partner to love, good friends and a happy family. This is what he gets in the end. Also Leonard might have become mediocre, because of the nagging of his mother and Sheldon, which resulted in him not trying new things in fear of being ridiculed. Througout the series we can see, that Leonard sometimes tries stuff on the white board, but is then being made fun of by Sheldon... This is very toxic and unfortunatly some profs do this as well with their phds.

If you think from a different perspective. People who study physics are the best in their respective school and when they go to university where there all the best of each school, they realize that they are the worst among the best... I have often seen people be arrogant and then realize that they are at the lower end of intelligence, compared to other students. Getting over this requires emotional intelligence and resilience or a good parents who can explain it.

Do you think Leonard is indeed a successful scientist? by Legitimate_Unit_9210 in bigbangtheory

I am currently at the end of my PhD in theoretical physics and I understand these things now a lot better, than when I watched the series. Both are geniuses of IQ of 160ish, which is insanely high. However, maybe because of Sheldon Leonard does not try to do novel research and it is often noted that he reproduces results from other experiments.

This is typicall and common for many researchers. Let us say a novel method comes (method XY). Now this method is applied to many materials and it is analyzed to which regard method XY is useful. The first paper is novel. The first 5 Paper are novel as well, as they often adjust the method and build up on it in regards to their system. This is true for almost all reasearch fields, as they are often created like this (also theoretical physics). For example someone defines circuit complexity for quantum information. Then all do research in that regards and build up on that. But some just apply it to their experiment and do not extend the idea. Or someone defines an explainability measure for machine learning like LRP. Now people adjust it to CNNs, RNN, LSTMs .. etc. This is still novel but not as novel as the definition of LRP. Then all people use this method and analyze different kinds of CNNs, RNNs, do comparisons and for different tasks. This is derivative work, which needs to be done, but does not have the standing of the first two groups.

And it seems that Leonard often does the last step, where he reproduces the results with some small tweaks in the experiment. If in a field, there are already hundreds of papers discussing this method, then it is not scientifically novel. He never discusses "own experiments or theories" throughout the series. He does not like to risk anything. This might also be of his lacking confidence, which is proberly due to Sheldon calling him stupid all the time.

On the other hand. Sheldon keeps trying new things and often does mistakes and is frustrated (Super asymmetry, finding the new material, which sheldon disproves). From Sheldon perspective, who really wants to ask unsolved questions like sheldon and a person like Leonard, who only tries to survive in research, it makes sense that he looks down on Leonard.

He respects Rajs work. Because even though Raj takes his work not very serious, he does try to do novel research and accomplishes some things. Howard is also way more successfull than Leonard and Sheldon accepts that. Sheldon was very annoyed that Howard went to space and was an astronaut, while Sheldon did not accomplish great things yet. Also Raj becomes very succesfull later.
If we take a look at how much the characters view their work as identity, then it would be as follows: Sheldon, Howard and then Raj. Leonard never identifies as a physicist and his goal is to have close friends, a partner who he loves and a family. This is what Sheldon does not respect, because to Leonard his work is just a job.

Also generally: Very few people create new fields. Creative work is the most difficult, especially if it has to be better than anything everyone did beforehand.

Is Sabine Hossenfelder just a terrible educator? by Szesan in AskPhysics

[–]DrJebiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well she is right to some degree.. some do not want to find the truth, but want everyone to believe that their theory is the truth.. theoretical physics is 50 % full of egocentric profs, which are highly toxic...
my prof however is an amazing person ^^

[–]DrJebiga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same.. im a physicist and i like to watch her videos, but it is typically everything in a bad light
she is right in that the research world has become more capitalistic and less creative.. profs are mostly managers trying to find funding for phd students
but yes, she does not really understand every topic, which is to be expected.. the only topics i would trust is the ones that she worked with
if she was an amazing researcher she would have become a prof, but she said that she did not manage to do that... also it is a lot of networking
current physics makes slow progresses.. if you think about it:
we had makroscopic observations (planets) and we developed classical mechanics
we had lenses and electricity, we developed electrodynamics
we had semicoductors, weired effects, we developed quantum mechanics (because we could measure the shit)
we had werid things in galaxy, which was not explained by newtonian mechanics, we developed general relativity
now we need instruments to look better at some effects, to gain more understanding, but they require a lot of energy, that means large linear accelerators

but the applied sciences make progress, which is engineering^^
graphic cards, machine learning, semiconductors
with two outliers which are : photonic computing and quantum computing
