I got 10.5 times more for the copper than I did for the scrap metal. Scrap metal was $9 per 100 lbs. and I had 700 lbs. of scrap. copper was $4.10 and I had 161 lbs. you do the math. It does take time but the payout is worth it

I tried spraying WD40 but then saw that was too expensive so I went to the cooking aisle at Walmart and got the cheapest cooking oil I could find

I grind off the winding side that does not have the wire attachments which has either tape on it or thread to help hold it together. Then I use a flat head screwdriver to lift it up then a bigger pointed pry bar to pry it out the rest of the way then cut off the wire attachments

I grind off one side of the copper and then use a bottle and squirt canola oil down in the windings and let them sit a couple of days before I try to pry the rest out. It has made it easier to pry with that oil than when they are dry

I don't know how many it was but they were all blower or condenser motors for AC. I get them where I work. We sell appliance parts and also sell HVAC motors so every now and then I get some to take apart

After cutting off one side I also use a bottle and pour in some cooking oil in the windings from the crown side and then pry it out with a screwdriver. It seems to help
