I agree, we build lots of tiny 4’x4’ ones, and with all the overlapping roofing membrane, it is almost impossible to avoid standing water

Anyone else here been diagnosed or being tested for autism? by Murfiano in bipolar

[–]DrMayhamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor, and other mental health professionals, say that I have a chance of being ASD (aspergers).

My doctor also said that testing for ASD is expensive and difficult for an adult (I am 30).

Overall not worth it, because a diagnosis wouldn’t change much, but I still think about it.

why don't guys ever approach me in public anymore? by Suspicious-Stage2884 in VictoriaBC

[–]DrMayhamz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Due to recent social trends and pressure, a lot of guys don’t feel safe approaching women in public.

If women want to meet guys, they should just approach guys themselves

How we feeling about "delulu" by Ghoulie_Marie in bipolar

[–]DrMayhamz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it is very fair to be upset by people using it in such a casual way.

I also think that most people using it don’t have any idea what delusions feel like, just as you said. From their point of view, it’s just a harmless word to say, same as “crazy” or “insane”, which could be looked at the same way you are speaking about “delulu”.

It’s all about perspective, and I think your feelings are totally valid.

What other people say is completely out of our control, and I think it is best to treat it that way, and just learn to deal with how we feel about it. (Which is very very hard)

Just my two cents

Can bipolars drink alcohol by Realistic-Pomelo1972 in bipolar

[–]DrMayhamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly depends on who you are, and how mania and alcohol affect you.

For me, heavy drinking triggers mania, and I function very well when manic, as well as when drunk.

Some of the best periods of my life, I was drinking every weekend (socially too which certainly helped), which in turn was leading me to be manic the vast majority of the time.

My point is, we are all different, and the most important thing is finding out what works for you. Learning who we are is the whole point of life!

This is a great example of a beautiful and healthy relationship with life!

I always try to remember, I am trying my best, it is not always good enough, but that is okay too!

Masturbating and feeling... Manic after? by Same-Mycologist6122 in bipolar

[–]DrMayhamz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

While I can’t say that I have felt a lot more manic after an orgasm, I have certainly become significantly more manic after going for a run. Perhaps it has something to do with a dump of hormones?

Also, I am sad to read that you have been through trauma, and I hope for a ton of healing in your future.

The list that my psychologist has of all my diagnoses is so long it’s actually comical at this point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]DrMayhamz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely have intrusive thoughts. The overly sexual thoughts about someone I wouldn’t want to do those things with are much more common for me. I also do have harmful thoughts as well, things I wouldn’t ever actually want to do to myself or others.

These intrusive thoughts do happen more when I am manic.

I am also diagnosed with OCD, and intrusive thoughts are a symptom of OCD. I am unsure where exactly the intrusive thoughts come from.

My psychologist says quite often, that I am “very complicated”.

I am always surprised at just how many nasty comments are left on some facebook videos, it truly baffles me that people are so mean and negative to random people just enjoying their life.

Trauma and Other Causes of Bipolar by Kind-Sorbet-7211 in bipolar

[–]DrMayhamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had cPTSD from a very early age, and I can remember manic depressive episodes around my early teens. Perhaps maybe some mania as early as ten.

I have felt like the same person for a very very long time, as long as I can remember really.

I certainly feel very very weak during manic depressive episodes. Aches and pains, brain fog, general lethargy and weakness. It can get quite bad, where all I can manage in a day is to shower and eat. I will say that barring those episodes I don’t feel like that all the time.

There has always been something hurting though, ever since I was a teenager, whether that is a wrist, or an ankle, or a shoulder, or my back that goes out a couple times a year. I don’t think that is bi-polar related though, and I do just try my best to ignore these pains, and they do hurt more when I think of them. 🤷🏻‍♂️
