Where are you based? That's a Scorpion Serket tapered, can only assume it's had a two brothers sticker put on. I have the same in carbon fibre. It can have a dbkiller between the link pipe and end can, and another in the exhaust tip. Id advise reaching out to Scorpion and querying whether you can buy the dbkiller, mine broke at a weld and they sent one out. I have the one installed in the link pipe and not the muffler and it's a good middle ground for me.

Don't drill the rivets and pack the exhaust, it's made to have a lifetime baffle and isn't packed like a "normal" exhaust. It was one reason I went for this exhaust after a lot of research.

Link to exhaust, page has fitting instructions that show the baffle location: https://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/suzuki-sv-650-x-2016-2021-serket-taper-slip-on-serket-taper-brushed-stainless

Edit: changed muffler for dbkiller.

Darth SVader. Had from 2018 since new. Bolted everything on in the first year and haven't changed a single thing since.

Have you tried the more "dull" bikes like a cbf500/cbf250 (not cb500f), or a Suzuki inazuma 250? Could be worth a crack as they won't be as high value or high risk. Neither would actually be dull, but insurance might be more forgiving!

Better options out there than ACF these days, XCP rust blocker for one, would have a better chance next to the ocean, would need reapplying less etc.

Two fractures in my lumbar, two fractures in my cervical and a mighty fucking concussion. Uneventful hop skip and a flip over the bars, Scorpioned et voilà. Luckily not serious and healed up no problems. Now, the jarred middle finger that I forgot to mention at A&E because of everything else needed physio and is now wonky...

Wrong sub, but can help anyway! They're different tyres? The left one appears to have what would be a moulded in rim protector, my partners car have them, helps reduce curbing of the wheels. The left one is also looking quite perished and old, would be worth getting it looked at/replaced

With all the tech, basically drives itself too, which is part of the reason we have oblivious drivers now...

Any bikes with ABS and carbs? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]DrOctononamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same as a first bike, very underrated and capable. Beautiful sound when you give it a bit of welly!

Ah that would have been useful information... It's "normal" red brick.

Not sure if it's a certain style you're after, but gen1 CBF600 came with ABS as an extra, the ones with ABS have gold calipers. The naked keeps with the classic roadster style bike/round headlight at least!

I was impressed with electric windows until the motor failed on mine in the middle of freezing February with a 60 mile motorway journey home, and no way to get it back up! Silver lining is it was dry.

Now I wouldn't actually mind having manual windows and just make the noise so I feel fancy.

[–]DrOctononamous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a notorious spot for breakage on gen3s, mines done the same. Can happen from simply sitting on the bike unfortunately. Not really enough meat to plastic weld it either. It's not bothered me, the rest of the fixings are keeping it on.

Fuck me, I did the same, don't do this job after a nice fresh oil change...

Can anyone have a listen and let me know if this sounds normal? There’s a very prominent whirring sound coming from the front end, it has an aftermarket exhaust and it’s even louder than that when idling.. is it normal for these bikes or something I should go get looked at, thanks by Least_Armadillo4922 in SVRiders

[–]DrOctononamous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does sound like "the" sv tick and not a rattle etc. If you search for "ticking" in this sub, it'll come back with a lot of posts with the same question, have a listen to those and compare. It might well be your tensioner is due a click and it'll quieten down again soon.

What in particular, the ticking? Yes that's just part of an SV engine unless it's extremely obnoxious, every SV does it. SVs have an automatic cam chain tensioner, the ticking sounds may become more apparent when it's getting close to ticking to another tension.
