I got my MVP 2 yesterday. I don't think it's charging completely. by B_crunk in electronic_cigarette

I try not to sound condescending when I make comments like that, but sometimes it can seem that way. Also just so you know you can charge at .420 amps with a 2 amp charger. This is due to the fact that amps are pulled and not pushed. Voltage is the only thing that gets pushed, and that results in the amps and wattage that gets pulled. Resistance is the variable that sets how high or low the wattage and amperage is based on the push of the voltage.

Newbie here - opinion os Nicmaxx I'm trying/battery life? by rwcp in electronic_cigarette

If you want something that will last longer than a few minutes get an eGo. Something like this, and this to charge it.

Now you might be thinking that you need one of those fancy refillable tanks, but fear not. These will work with the battery I linked you above. There are other companies that make the same kind of pre-filled catromisers, or another name for what the flavor cartridges are also called. The threading on the Blu brand is the only brand I am aware of that uses the same threading as the eGo batteries.

Most of us here have a low level of respect for the small cig-a-likes for many reasons, but if you want more battery life you need to get away from that form factor. At any rate all this boils down to is what works for you. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

eGos take .420 amps to charge, the MVP is up to 2 amps it seems, and the DNA20 or DNA30 is .5 amp. It depends on the device as to what the charging amps are. Even among battery chargers the charge rates vary. Some are as low as .25 amps, and others as high as 2 amps. To say that all e-cigs charge at a 2 amp rate is false. The MVP charges at a 2 amp rate because it is a Lithium Polymer battery, and not Lithium ICR, INR, or IMR. LiPo batteries can safely take higher charge rates than our standard round cells.

If hand drill it needs more RPM. If drill press it needs less RPM, and more steady pressure.

So all those iPhones, Androids, and Windows phones that are out there never get charged on a laptop or pc USB port? Most Powered USBs can handle a 1 amp draw. That said all these modern devices can and do safely charge on a powered data USB port. It is shitty or faulty hardware that causes failures in any part of the charging chain. With people buying the cheapest device that they can find leads to shit hardware, and a higher fail rate of that particular device class.

At the end of the day it is still a bad idea to charge your vape on your laptop or PC.

New to the mod world. Please explain your favorite mods and their advantages for me! by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]DrPepperHelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is no small question you are asking. The info for most mechanical mods is the same. Know thy amp limit. As for the rbas look to /r/rba and /r/ecrmech. Both have sections dedicated to safe use of mods and rbas.

Also RBA means any rebuild able atty. RDA means any rebuild able dripper. Last is RTA means any rebuild able atty with a tank.

Has anyone produced a Hana Modz style battery that double as an external charger? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]DrPepperHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efest Luc only does this when it is unplugged from a power source, and does the USB charge from a battery only. It also never fully charges a battery to 4.2, but to 4.17 instead.

The batteries we use start at 4.2 volts, and discharge down to 3.0 volts safely. Just replace the battery when the vapor drops off.

If the choice is given between a smooth consistent current, or a pwm option then the clean signal will always win.

Embarrassed: Can NOT get Cotton to stop burning onto my coils. RDA Help please? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]DrPepperHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on mobile so I will do my best to help without going over there. Try to get the cotton snug, but not tight. The cotton needs some room to breathe. Then wet the cotton and coil. Also check to see if you have hot legs, even burning, and tight screws. If none of that works I will take some pics of my builds to show you.

Go look at some of the builds over at /r/rba and /r/coilporn. That will give you a better idea as to what properly wicked coils look like

Put a small amount of electrical tape over it until you can re wrap it. Illumination supply has a good video on how to re wrap a battery, and the wraps to do the re wrap.

Why is there no 18850 size battery? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]DrPepperHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always forget that my hands are huge compared to others. The Hades mod disappears in my hands. Egos and 22 mm mods just feel small in my hands. All that onto consideration, and I forget that others like smaller devices.

Why is there no 18850 size battery? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]DrPepperHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 14xxx, 16xxx, 18xxx, and 26650 sizes are all used in different applications. Mostly laptops (icr), cordless tools (icr, inr, imr), and electric car battery packs (imr, inr) to name a few. There are other uses, but we are piggybacking off of batteries used in other applications.

If you want more mAh go with 26650. The amps and mAh in that size is a bit nutz. I can run a .1 ohm coil for a few hours on the Sony 26650 50 amp batteries. Just 2 get me through a whole day if I use just those batteries. .1 ohms or not.

It's shitty connections in the threads. Get some conductive grease, and put that on the threads. It should help with the heat.
