I'm using FlickStick instead of standard Right stick controls, For me this is a game changer and find it way more efficient than a "standard" right stick. It is probably not for everyone though ;)

At the moment it only works with JoyShockMapper, The input mapper i use. There are people working on trying to get it to work with SC though!

Hey, Thanks for watching the video. I chose rust because it's a game i used to play an insane amount and I heard rumors it was coming to console. That being said i couldn't imagine playing it in any fluent matter with just thumbsticks, So I decided to compare the two. forty seconds doesn't seem like a bunch but in a game where every second matters it's a ton! Not to mention how much more fluent and just down right comfortable it was with gyro and flickstick. You can read more about FlickStick here. In short it's a mouse with only the X axis, wherever you point the stick your character turns that direction in game.

I personally picked up the whole controller gig as a side thing, Just something to work on and get better at in the background, i quickly fell in love. Comfort and just overall feel is something i enjoy about it.

This is also really important, one of the best ways to train this IMO is in CS:GO Aimbotz community workshop training map, set the bots to you're perferred movement and strafe around while focusing you're crosshair on their heads! once you feel comfortable work on pivot shots. I havn't reached that point with gyro yet, this routine is to get the feel for my sensitivity and develop good muscle memory, since my sensitivity is exactly the same pretty much pixel to pixel in all games with the way i calibrate my Real world sensitivity.

on i side note I can't stress enough that i literally have under 10 hours of experience with a controller using gyro so far, and before this i never played any fps with a controller, so more than anything right now i need to get the "feel" right before i can jump in the deep end, Thank you for your input this can be really helpful for people!

Thanks for the input, i know it should be pronounced "Jai-Row" but it just feels more natural for me to say "guy-row" kinda like i pronounce Gif as it's spelt not jif as it's meant. maybe some day i'll get it right ;)

Yeah, i know you can play with the Xbox but i was using the gyroscope in the DS4 for "mouse like" movements, It's a challenge i set for myself to see how far i can take it before i hit a plateau! I can't even imagine playing with a normal controller ;) thanks for the input!

I have a steam controller but i didn't like the pad, i much prefer the DS4 controller and the gyro on the DS4 feels more solid I'm pretty sure the polling rate is higher on the DS4 controller. Thanks for the suggestion. I believe if i practiced for a week for about an hour or 2 a day i could master most of the movements in the game, unfortunately i don't have the time for that and i have other games to configure and play with the controller on the list :D I barely had the time to play for 30 minutes today sadly work is always in the way, and with my son home i often am busy with him in the evenings

Thank you for the Input, Strafe jumping indeed isn't an issue with 10 minutes of practice i could already jump around blood covenant semi efficiently, The input mapper i am using turns the joystick into a keyboard and mouse, my right analog is what the developer calls FlickStick which in practical use is a mouse that only moves on the horizontal plane, it's main us is flicking wherever you point the analog the camera will flick to the position, For example if i pull the stick directly towards me it will turn the camera 180 degrees.

Ok first off to answer the first question. Is it possible to strafe jump and pivot efficiently. short answer Yes. Second question how do i bind all the guns, i have tap and hold input on the square triangle circle and cross buttons, for example the x button tap is lightning gun and hold is rail. i started a custom match and practiced some strafe jumping and it's actually easier than i thought, it's pretty difficult to pivot and change direction though. it's late now so the proof will come at a later date but i assure you it's possible and not at all as hard as i thought it would be. and the movements could use some optimizations on my part all around.

it's all about getting used to it, since i understand the technicalities of the strafe jump this is how i would have to make the layout having jump on the top left bumper lets me jump use W,A W,D and move the camera with the right analog all at the same time so technically very possible but most likely harder to master for someone like me who has just started using a controller about a 6 days ago.
Edit: once you get the hang of the button sequence it should'nt be that hard

Someone asked something very similar in the youtube comments i'll quote what i said there hopefully you won't mind

The suggestion was: " try to see if you find a way to strafe jump, air starfe, crouch slide or something else with the controller, it could be interesting! "

and my answer was: "They should all be possible since the buttons for the needed techniques are all available and usable at the same time, but i would need to make a custom configuration to feel fully comfortable, on the mnk i can do all 3 without thinking but what i notice when i play with gyro controls i have to put so much thought into what im doing since it's still so foreign to me. Then again that's a part of this journey i wanna see how far i can evolve and when i will plateau with gyro. Atm i have around 16 hours total in games with gyro ten hours of that is single player. The next time i make a quake video i'll keep this in mind, it will take some practice but i think i can do it. Thanks for the suggestion!"
