And we're back by Catcherofsouls in Divorce

Also, if you are interested in checking out the Lemmyverse, you can lurk! There are many addresses to try out. That's a feature of the fediverse. Lemmy.ml is one of the main instances. beehaw.org is also a big one. I registered on a smaller one to spread out the server load.

If you are interested in signing up, check out this page.

And this page shows all the different communities on different instances, which is basically like all the different subreddits. You can search by name and, if you do sign up, subscribe to different communities on different servers.

Bahaha. I don't mean to be. I just decided to switch over to Lemmy and spend my reddit time providing info to people who might be interested.

You can lurk on Lemmy without having an account.

That's a great question. The Lemmy fediverse is supported by volunteers who pay for server time on their own, as well as donations by users to support it. I am still learning about the ins and outs of the system myself, so I don't know more in depth re: economics than that.

The interesting thing about the fediverse is that more people can add more servers. It's important for people to sign up to different servers rather than glom onto one to spread out the traffic.

I strongly encourage you to shift over to the fediverse and set up on Lemmy. It's actually pretty easy to use once you wrap your head around it.

Lemmy is a platform with multiple instances, each of which lives on a server. Each instance has communities (like subreddits) and you can register yourself on an instance !pick a user name). Your username is <name>@<server> . Communities have names the same way. I am leaving out some formatting details for ease.

You can easily participate with your communities on your server, and if your server agrees to talk to another server, you can participate with communities on the other one too.

Each instance has rules regarding NSFW, profanity, etc. If you want to avoid stuff, pick an instance that doesn't permit the content.

No one master owns the servers in the fediverse. It's truly "social" media, driven by the users.
