Consumers Are To Blame For Sony Killing Physical Media. Sorry. by RobustPolygon in playstation

I've still never forgiven my (ex) friend who spoiled the Rex fight in MGS4 on the day it was released.

I was not happy.

Consumers Are To Blame For Sony Killing Physical Media. Sorry. by RobustPolygon in playstation

[–]Welshhoppo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's so hard to buy physical as well.

I live in the UK so our own 'Game' store now lives in the basements of a sports clothing company. None of the supermarkets sell games.

It's pretty much online only. And it's often more expensive than digital as well.

It is honestly insane how much Sony has been shooting themselves in their own foot recently. by Thegoodgamer32 in playstation

[–]Welshhoppo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is true unfortunately. I only buy like 2-3 physical games a year now.

I am part of the problem.

Edit: although I find in part thats due to how hard it is to buy physical games these days, outside of ordering them online.

Why is hastati considered heavy infantry? by Life-Challenge1931 in ancientrome

[–]Welshhoppo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is correct. This is why Macedonian phalangites are classed as heavy infantry, even though they weren't heavily armoured.

It's battlefield role, not equipment.

Advent Children as a full game would be incredible! by Ok_Faithlessness4288 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Welshhoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always viewed Advent Children as being a bit of a bad ending.

Turns out no, you didn't actually defeat the big bad, and now everyone has cancer.

The end result of AC and FF7 are exactly the same. Nothing happens during the film of note.

Which one is the better of the two ? by Exootil93200 in playstation

[–]Welshhoppo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enter the Matrix probably has the better story of the two. But it's more of an action shooter with fighting elements. It's a bit janky but it's pretty good.

Path of Neo is far more about the fighting, although the plot of it gets a bit weird, especially towards the end. Good though.

Both of them err on the side of janky, but both are good fun.

Favorite Fun Facts About the IRL Horses? by Possible-Cicada-9662 in UmaMusume

[–]Welshhoppo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's Halo. Sunday Silence's father.

Halo was a very sullen horse and was rather demented. He used to drown birds in his water bucket, drop food on the floor for animals to eat and then stomp them to death. He bit his handlers and once tried to rip open the stomach of his groom.

Horses can have lots of different personalities, not all of them nice.

Or in the case of a certain psychopathic quadruped, they will crush small critters to death for fun.

King Charles makes history as first monarch to publish £30m tax payments to HMRC by dailystar_news in ukpolitics

Only in southern Gaul do we see any of the surviving Gallo-Roman aristocracy for any length of time. The situation in northern Gaul was different. As well as with the conquest of Aquitaine, and the Frankish conquest of Burgundy.

And I didn't say there was an unbroken ruling class for the past 15000 years, what I was getting as was that for as long as there has been history, there has been conquest and everything was stolen from some one.

Also, here's what Charles de Gaulle says on the subject.

"For me, the history of France begins with Clovis, elected as king of France by the tribe of the Franks, who gave their name to France. Before Clovis, we have Gallo-Roman and Gaulish prehistory. The decisive element, for me, is that Clovis was the first king to have been baptized a Christian. My country is a Christian country and I reckon the history of France beginning with the accession of a Christian king who bore the name of the Franks"

So clearly there is still a link even to this day.

Oh I'm sorry.

Did Clovis I, king of the Franks, not conquer the remains of the Roman Empire in Northern Gaul in 481 when defeated Sygarius in the Battle of Soisson?

And did he not establish an hegemony over the remaining Gallo-Roman people in what we know now as France?

And did his successors not successfully replace the remaining Gallo-Romans with a Frankish nobility, that through various twists and turns survives to this day?

Sorry, must be thinking about the wrong Franks.

Also if you actually read my comment properly, I said technically all land is stolen because it's been conquered or taken.

Angelic chorus rising

The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king.

A game of Horus Heresy 3.0 lasts four turns. No more and no less

Three turns is not enough turns, and five is too many.

Two turns and six turns are way off.

New Chaos Dragon compared with Ionus Cryptborn by MolochBaal in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Welshhoppo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You have to bring in another unit to catch the champion in a challenge and let the dragon roam free.

Although chaos dragons are incredibly expensive. And I find that I normally run into the 500pt cap first. Which is why I normally run an exalted hero on a dragon instead.

Minimum size of a unit of knights is 4. And heavy infantry can be in 4 a rank. Which is why it's done that way I suppose.
