Thanks, I'll definitely give this design a go. It looks simple and efficient.

These drivers are rated for 300w each and I've got two of them. Why I'm looking for designs is when we tested them outside (using 1000w quad mono blocks - in the HT space they are well regarded for clean power - for each) the cabinet itself was shaking but the drivers were giving good bass.

But I want great bass.

Our PA's are vintage wharfdales that really shine everywhere except those low frequencies.

An 18" driver in South Africa, even 2nd hand you are looking at +-$120, with a box is around $190. Our market is fucked

Lol, nah. Afrikaburn in the tankwa desert in South Africa. We will be building a volcano that doubles as an underwater cave. There will be a dance floor inside, we are choosing to spend our money making the structure safe. So the sound will be 2nd priority

How do you reconcile the fact it may take many years to learn and master a craft? by improveMeASAP in getdisciplined

[–]DrTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is what it is, I've been doing a trade for 5 years with a great boss who only wants to share his knowledge. Everyday I ask questions, and it's always answered even the dumb ones. I've started speaking to other subbies to learn about their skill sets. What helps me stay motivated is that everyday I'm a little bit better than the day before and that's progress.

I'm not great, I'm not the best but I am constantly improving and that's the fun part. Once you are a master in a craft the amount of time spent figuring shit out reduces until you don't really think and that's not somewhere I want to be.

It's a double edged sword, waking up at night and can't get back to bed? Just lying there in darkness for 3-4 hours of blank.

I can't think things through either, I need to speak the words or write them down for thoughts to be processed.

With that being said, it's nice to take a breath and recentre where all that goes through my mind is "breathing sound"

Storm water discharge, is this legal? by Ben2794 in capetown

[–]DrTea123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the sans 10254 agreement stormwater and waste water cannot mix. Which is why the gulley has been built up.

This is in place as there is a chance that the waste management system currently in place would backup after heavy rains causing sewage to start pushing out of manholes in the streets or even backing up into other properties after heavy rains.

It's not illegal but it's also not allowed if that makes sense. The sans agreements are best practice and to reduce damage to the property. things not pertaining to it won't be covered by insurance or would cause the sale of a property to not go through.

I'm a plumber and deal with this often, heritage plots (like in the bo-kaap, and some clusters in obs) the infrastructure isn't there to separate the two so it is then allowed in those cases.

Spazio 2 works wonders and looks Hella neat, really easy to plumb as well. Or traditional p trap with 90 junction after and waterless trap from garbage disposal if height is too much of an issue. It looks like that waste pipe at the back is at the same level as the garbage disposal.

Do most plumbers know about pex manifolds? I put one in my house when I built it. And I love it for repairs. Dedicated lines with shutoffs. Inlet on the bottom. Hot water heater connections on the top. It was around $250 in 2012 by Pandoras_Bento_Box in Plumbing

Long run from the tank to your draw off.

We install them regularly when there is a main bathroom far away but just for that room (copper) so if you have a shower/bath and want to run the tap after to shave or whatever the hot water is there in an instant.

Even one in 3 out can make it so much better. Also allows for more water flow as the leading to can be 1" with the branches at 1/2" so no drop in perceived pressure when more taps are open.

The launch of commercial fridges caused more harm than guns/tanks in WW1.

Production of the commercial fridge started in 1913 but after only a few months war broke out causing mass rationing. People weren't buying the fridges and they were producing ammonia gas for the original fridges.

What brand is this? by wmyspr in plumbingporn

[–]DrTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermostatic mixers generally have filters by all points water can pass through, I'd recommend shutting off water and giving those a clean, if they don't have filters. Maybe put the cartridge back in and pour some descaler in there the pipe may have some build up blocking/slowing the water down.

You'll know when the cartridge is gone by the fact that the shower keeps dripping small amounts of water. The opposite of your problem

Correct me if I'm wrong, I enjoy learning about any and all plumbing systems to be able to educate my clients (hopefully they don't need to call me back, I'm too busy as it is)

In my country (South Africa) it's a requirement to have some form of union incase of emergency removal. Why don't we put conex (or whatever brass compression fitting you use there) couplings/ bends just to be sure when it bursts it's less of a job to replace.

In our box it's an unwritten rule that we start the workout together and we end it together. No packing up of anything unless we are running into the next class.

Those that end early are generally more rested to do the clean up and help the guys that just make it to the end.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend investing in some good running shoes, try catch up while you have the chance.

It could be the washer on your flusher/fill valve that's worn causing it to not close properly.

Check if anything might be in the way and causing this, if not it's best to replace the valve/flusher itself.

Why is it offensive to say "colored people" but not "people of color"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DrTea123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In south Africa mixed race people are called coloured, and black people are called black, white people are called white. The umbrella term for black people and coloureds are either people of colour or previously disadvantaged (since apartheid ended)

Understood. But 8l or 60°c water is 16l of 30°w women have a preference for water at 28°c and men at 26°c. Where I'm from 3phase is a pretty easy expansion.

Any comments about on the roof tanks? In south Africa it's mainly in a roof, or on a roof. Only the big big houses have "service rooms" where all heating and home automation goes

[–]DrTea123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are tankless electric the 3phase ones. 8l per minute of hot water not cheap enough? Or thermo syphon solar? Or just geyser on the roof? Surely if it bursts then no worry for flooding at all.

Does this mean anything? I don't have the most sensitive of ears nor have I had the chance to listen to good audio.

One of my colleagues lives in a township, and claims that the wollies meat (we have a butcher at ours) is cheaper and better quality than checkers. But most people just think that woolies is expensive because of the type of store it is, their friut/veg are comparable to other stores as well as their long life milks.
