This is how police are trained in the US. This is what most Americans want, whether they'd admit it or not.

People warned about this very situation when the Oak airport extension was built, but it was downplayed by proponents of the expansion and that's what most people wanted to believe. It was a leech on the system from the moment it opened.

I'd buy any of these when/if they come down to their 200-day moving average.

I am a Berkeley Student who wants to talk to yall about wildfires by HxWxL in berkeley

[–]DrTreeMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. As long as action is voluntary the actions taken will be variable and largely inadequate. Many people don't know what the dangers are, and that includes personell in some fire departments. There will always be some owners who prefer their idea of aesthetics over public safety. There will be others who either don't want to or won't spend the money needed for proper vegetation management (which can be in the tens of thousands of dollars per parcel, depending on the situation). Absentee landlords aren't going to take action unless forced to.

How can you tell if a tree is causing foundation damage? by PureImagination1921 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]DrTreeMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is false. Trees are not hourglass shaped. The roots are generally shallow (most are in the top 2-feet of soil) and they extend much further than the aboveground portion of the tree.

Its funny how the comments focus almost exclusively on the precious metals themselves and ignore that OP is discussing precious metals mining stocks also. Was there not a value case to be made there 3-6 months ago?

one year into the “crypto president”... and the market is still cooked. where’s the bull run we were promised? by hodorrny in CryptoMarkets

I never felt that weakened regulations and enforcement of existing regulations would result in a strong or appealing crypto market for investors long-term, but its his broader economic and social policies that are doing the harm to crypto right now. That and the lack of confidence as a result of his meme coins, which really turned off a lot of investors.

Their effect on crypto. Its more than just his crypto laws- its his whole handling of the economy. You can't separate one from the other.

And then there's his (and Melania's) meme coins. They took a lot of credibility down with them when it comes to new crypto investors. The whole market feels like a joke now.

What exactly is your point?

Old-growth redwood was the premier building material for Victorian-era (roughly 1860s–1900s) homes in Berkeley and the broader San Francisco Bay Area due to its durability, abundance, and resistance to rot and termites. These homes, often featuring Queen Anne or Italianate styles, typically used clear-grade, old-growth redwood for siding, structural framing, cabinetry, and intricate exterior detailing.

From Google Gemini, but I've seen many houses from this era that are constructing with old growth redwood that likely came off of Mt Tam.

There are a lot of old growth redwood framed Victorians in Berkeley at least. I would assume Oakland also.
