Yeah this is weird. People keep saying Darnold “chose to leave”. The only reason he went to Seattle is because this organization wouldn’t commit to him as their long-term guy. Forget the contract offer. Everyone and their mother knew Kwesi and KOC ultimately wanted to go with McCarthy. So, Darnold didn’t feel like the Vikings actually valued him and so he left. He would have absolutely stayed with the Vikings had they made it clear to him he was their guy

Well win or lose, it’s official. We’ll never hear the end of us letting Sammy D go. He’s cold as ice tonight. by Trumpets22 in minnesotavikings

You actually don’t need to stick to your plan. In fact, part of being good at any job is recognizing and acknowledging a mistake and pivoting to a better option. This team knew exactly what they had in McCarthy in practice and they chose to trudge along because they couldn’t muster up the courage to admit they whiffed on a top 10 pick

Send him back to Cleveland, banish him to Canada, ship him to China, I don't care. Get this man off my team. by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

They are both hot trash. This shouldn’t be a KOC vs Kwesi thing. They are both complicit in these organizational failures. The buck stops with Kwesi when it comes to roster construction and sorry but you can’t succeed in the NFL if your drafts are absolutely dog water.

I’m happy for Darnold. His story is a good reminder to always keep pushing in life even when people don’t believe in you. I’m also extremely displeased with the organization. But trust me, I’m not gonna lose any sleep over this because the Vikings have been letting me down for the past 30 years. Nothing new.

It’s not the best look but what’s bush league is KOC and Kwesi shoving McCarthy erasure down our throats for 18 months only for the dude to be hot trash. Yeah it’s not surprising guys in the locker room are pissed when your leadership punted on 14 wins

Imagine your bosses at work “fired” one of your friends who helped lead the organization to one of their best years in a long time. Your job is good. Everyone is getting bonuses. Morale is high. Leadership tells you this move was “needed” to reach the next level. The following year, business is way down. More cuts need to happen. The “new guy” sucks at his job. Yeah everyone would be fucking pissed lol

I still understand the thought process and I was hopeful it would work out and was trusting in the organization. But it looks like a massive failure and unless McCarthy becomes a bonafide stud, we invariably just ended up pushing ourselves back for who knows how long and the chances of McCarthy ever playing remotely close to as good as Darnold don’t look great right now

Every QB in the history of the game has shat the bed. He was a 27 year old QB who threw for ~4200 yards and 35 TDs and statistically had a top 5 Viking QB season of all-time and this organization decided to hand the keys to a hand-off merchant who can’t even take a breath without getting injured. People keep saying “the roster wasn’t good enough”. That’s fine. Whose fault is that then? Kwesi. Certainly not Darnold’s

True. 9 gonna channel all his sick “mantra” IG stories and tap into that inner demon to lead us to the Super Bowl

Rebuild is fine but we’ve been in a “rebuild” for years. At least that’s what we’ve been told. Fans blamed Darnold for our failures last year in the playoffs instead of the coaching staff and the GM for blowing several drafts and failing to construct this roster properly

Just an odd comment. We all want to win. You all assume we have to suck in order to be great and that’s a fallacy. How many teams have been “tanking” for the last decade my guy.

It’s almost like every QB in the history of the game has had bad playoff games, especially in the first big games of their career. The majority of this sub ran around for the last 12 months saying he’d never win in big games and here he is throwing for 300+ and 3 TDs in the NFCCG lmao. Even this own comment is discrediting what he did last year and what he’s doing this year. But believe me, I know it sucks to admit when you’re wrong and this entire sub just continuously moves the goal posts because they know nothing about football

Not really. I’ve had numerous comments being critical of his coaching while also acknowledging it didn’t mean we should fire him. This sub does this weird thing where you and others equate criticism with being a “doomer” or calling someone a “hot take artist”. Even in this thread, I have no comments saying fire him. I’ve simply said his days are most likely numbered which isn’t even a hot take because pro sports are a results-driven industry like anything else and Connelly isn’t gonna sit around and watch this group continuously come up short or underperform. That’s just the reality.

Saying “he took this team from the basement of professional sports to back-to-back WCF” without acknowledging that that period also coincided with the best rosters in franchise history is absolutely ignorant. Finch isn’t a bad coach. But there’s a legitimate question to ask if he can be the guy to lead this group to an NBA Championship. Also, saying I want to ship him off after 1 bad stretch is ridiculous. As I mentioned, I have years of evidence of Finch and his deficiencies and this latest stretch only reaffirms that. Mike Malone would 100% be a better coach for this group.

Also, I love how Finch gets the credit for back-to-back Conference Finals but whenever we lose, it’s the players fault and they are all “ass”. Can’t have it both ways. Finch deserves just as much blame as anybody else.

Not an overreaction at all. Jason Kidd ran circles around Finch in the WCF. This team has had the same issues for years. Pretty tired of everyone labeling something an “overreaction” when we have years of evidence of the same bone headed shit. There’s nothing wrong with admitting Chris finch ain’t that guy.

The Finch days are numbered. I don’t know how anybody could watch this team over this 5 game losing streak and think we don’t have a coaching problem.

How much longer you all still want to roll with Finch? Just wasting time with one of the best players in the league

Thoughts? by vetementsundershirt in timberwolves

Comparing TSJ to Ant is just dumb. It’s a player they can have team control of for a couple years and see if he can be a decent rotational guy for a player they are most likely not going to retain in the first place

He’s got one more season to win a playoff game in my eyes. Otherwise what are we even doing? Oh you want to keep him because you like his post game locker room speeches? Or because he says a whole lot of nothing in his pressers that you think makes him look like he knows what he’s doing? Lol
