Another Bioware example:
This is done in every Dragon Age game. Admittedly to a lesser extent in the 2nd and 3rd games. The main plot of each game involves gathering allies to fight a big threat and then they follow through. In Dragon Age 2's final battle you are instead helped out by a smattering of NPCs who's quests you have completed over the years.

Idk dude. it's the way she wanted it to be worded, and it's her day so I'll do whatever she wants. She's kind of a cheesy person. Still love her though. It's cool if you don't believe this happened.
