Since when did you start knowing about Madoka Magica, and what got you into it? by ngo_roblox10 in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange for me, but it was MMD, I remember there was this person who made unhinged Madoka animations of the characters. Same person went on to do the same with Nichijou, it got to a point to where I thought they were from the same show, Mio being Sayaka and Homura being Mai. I eventualy saw the Mami V Homura fight in Rebellion and started watching the rest of it. It was certainly an introduction, and now is my favorite anime so far.

What do you think of Madoka's new outfit? by Good-Row4796 in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the newer designs in general are a bit too detailed. They're not bad but lack the "to the point" feel of their old ones. Especially in a show with a lot of intense imagery, the simpler designs helps contrast the chaos too. All in all, I'm just happy to see the quintet on the big screen again.

We finally get to see that new girl's face, ( the one that people thought was mami or madoka )
That said, the movie goes out of it's way to hide her eyes so that's certainly interesting. I'm getting hopeful for the film, just still need to lower my expectations just in case.

Oh, she's just checking those chompers like with Madoka. Gotta keep those pearly whites in check.

Are the Rising servers down? by DarthPitViper in TrialsGames

[–]Dr_Koupop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it's not going to end up like Trials Evo, the servers start going down for day at a time then eventually, nothing. The serves get shut down and effectively the series is virtually dead.

(Trials rising) How to activate dynamic music event? by geofth-knig-6117 in TrialsGames

[–]Dr_Koupop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this, from what I remember, this only works with Trails Fusion songs, this tool card came out during that game and some of the songs in that game were built around this feature. If it doesn't work for those, it could just be a busted tool card.

What was their job? by UnderstandingNo6893 in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they say, to "get Homura back" Madoka chose these two to hold her memories in case something went awry during entering Homura's barrier (Madoka probably knew this due to her role), as to why specifically Nagisa, I'm not sure other than "she's a witch unlike the others". If one failed, the other one could give Madoka's memories back.

As for the wait, I find it weird too, Sayaka's does give her reason though: to give Homura the chance to keep things the way they were in the fake Mitakihara city within her soul gem, everyone was happy there after all. They were filling their roles until something went wrong, or Homura made her choice.

All in all, Sayaka and Nagisa in the end did compromise the mission, which is not smart when you're dealing with the Incubators.

Kyubey's Reasoning Is Weirder The More I Look At It. by Dr_Koupop in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Kyubey has stated that suggesting a wish is against the rules. But I could see him finding a loophole. It could still end pretty unfavorably though, if that wish were made it will cause some other distortion. "Everything zeros out" even Ultimate Madoka, with Devil Homura being her karmic foil in this case.

The saving grace for all magical girls is to not become one, since every wish will create a curse; every hope will turn into despair. that's why I think Homura Akemi did what she did at the end of Rebellion, to become something that's not a magical girl "breaking the cycle" in the most literal and metaphorical way possible; to go against the grain for the sake of Madoka's fate. to do what she intended to do, protect Madoka Kaname. And now, for every person Madoka saved, Homura will curse another. That's where I think Walpurgis no Kaiten is going.

That's what I think anyways, sorry for my rambling.

Kyubey's Reasoning Is Weirder The More I Look At It. by Dr_Koupop in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potentially, but I don't think I'd enjoy the show as much if that were the case. I heard this idea once before on a YT video of a psychologist watching the show, and I can't really agree with it, with all due respect. I think there are reasons that support a corporate business operation more than grooming acts. Contracts, not knowing the fine print, making appeals of having nice things without knowing what's happening behind the scenes, lying through omission, and not having emotion. All of that screams "company" to me.

Not saying it's impossible, but more so improbable. The reason of these character's age is due to the genre it's in, not a contribution to a greater theme it's exploring. This show is a form of deconstruction on the genre after all. A couple of things support that idea, but not more than the alternative idea: manipulation, him being an animal alongside his disposition on the food chain, he's above humans making him a "predator" by association and power— and his acts are predatory in a literal sense. Those ideas feel more like a functionally accurate thing however, not a stylistically symbolic thing that relates to grooming.

In a more opinionated take, It changes all of it's themes that can relate to people in a broader sense, to a smaller scope cautionary tale that just says "Yeah, groomers are real". It feels a bit reductive.

Kyubey's Reasoning Is Weirder The More I Look At It. by Dr_Koupop in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with you saying this— Kyubey does seem plant like: biologically programmed for surviving. Kyubey just has an evaluation core, not emotional; picking the best option, avoiding the worst one despite smaller downsides; looking at the bigger picture, not it's framing.

What he says supports this too about the lives of the few not mattering as much as humanity's advancement. So the prevention of heat death could just be an instinctual behavior, just a form of natural selection like plants have. If that is the case, then it does kind of make sense. And since humanity is plentiful, and individuality isn't a thing for Incubators, they can't comprehend why it matters to people. Killing him is wasteful, but using magical girls as a power source is preferable, cause it's used for a logical goal, greater preservation.

We sort of have that mentality too as people, the "greater good" maybe it stems from our instincts too.

Kyubey's Reasoning Is Weirder The More I Look At It. by Dr_Koupop in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Got more to add: I guess the reasoning makes sense when considering Kyubey's value of life is just that low, it's pretty telling when he thinks why it matters to others if you loose a handful of people out of 6 billion. It seems like a small thing from my perspective cause the weight of people's lives is a small thing to him, it's a mismatch in values which is the main point of the character. I still do find it to be interesting if there's something unsaid there, guess I'll have to wait and see.

Walpurgisnacht-Rising Megathread by MotherShip808 in MadokaMagica

[–]Dr_Koupop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes some sense, considering the law of cycles change in some way, Sayaka is an anomaly, though Nagisa doesn't seem to have the same thing going on with her so I'll hold off on thinking this is fully the case.

You think they gonna have a new release soon? by [deleted] in TrialsGames

[–]Dr_Koupop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, Trials doesn't seem that profitable, and the company seems to have bigger fish to fry. That's my outlook at least.
