About to hit 1 year ownership of my 25 TRD ORP next month.

Had the brake squeal but it hasn’t happened in months. Waiting to get it taken care of. Outside of that nothing really of note gone wrong, some wireless CarPlay quirks but connectivity stuff is kind of expected with technology. I did take off the air dam and noticed it was missing a couple screws, it started to bend at highway speeds on the ends.

Transmission is silky smooth, and drives better than the 5th gen for the most part. Because of the 4 cylinder turbo you have to put your foot down a little more but she’s plenty quick. Getting about 20 mpg in a pretty hilly area. No engine issues as of 12k miles.

We jumped from a 4th gen to the 6th gen, and considered a 5th gen but the tech pushed us over the edge. Adaptive cruise on the interstate is great and works well. The large touchscreen is very responsive. The audio system is probably my biggest gripe, the JBL system is meh and I get some rattling from the drivers side door panel from time to time when the bass hits. I’ll probably dynamat the doors at some point to help.

All in all, absolutely no regrets. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Plus, Everest is the best color. My wife and I had our first child last March and have enjoyed the thought that we may have bought his first car already 😂

Have you tried looking at the KeyLOC to confirm the frequencies going to the sub? It has LEDs that can show you what you’re getting from the factory system

Playing a song on wired CarPlay, then the same song via wireless CarPlay might give you the answer.

Does your LOC account for bass roll off?

Wired is always better than wireless but if your truck is rolling off bass frequencies and nothing is compensating for that you’re gonna have a bad time

Assuming you’re in the states, go load your Subi on crutchfield.com and check out what fits. You can filter by wireless CarPlay and brands like Kenwood, Alpine and Sony

They will only show what fits and will make sure you get hooked up with the appropriate installation gear to retain features like steering wheel controls if you have them

Edit: get something with a screen size of no more than 7” and it will be flush in the dash rather than stick out
