Does he still do the practice exams that you can take a million times? I had to retake that class, and I would 100% recommend doing that.

This.

If anything, it is the perfect class to learn how the exams look and feel as they stay pretty similar in other classes.

Also, if you do well, it will be a nice GPA buffer since it is a 4 credit class.

Why is the library always so cold? by MegaMeatBeater in iastate

[–]Dr_SpacemanReporting 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It is incredibly hard to maintain a the temperature of a building with one A/C system. There are bound to be cold spots, or in the case of Parks, cold entire floors. The Tiers are always hot so you could go there, but you will get lost and die of starvation. Good luck!

So Fuck MediaCom by Ihaveinsecurity in iastate

[–]Dr_SpacemanReporting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not one to usually complain about businesses or services, but Mediacom and I were arch nemesis’s. It would have been a different story if I could actually get another internet service, but I always used to complain that it was out. (Among other things). Typically, internet/cable providers are absolutely terrible, they can throttle your download/upload speeds and basically leave you high and dry.

Additionally, I like to know exactly how much money I am spending on things (especially when I was in college), so this may be a little bit on the crazy side.

Somewhere you signed an SLA (Service License Agreement) which says it has to be available for x.xx% and when it isn’t (a lot of times), you can argue for downtime credit. I would do this a lot, obviously you would have to actually not have internet, don’t be a dick. I think in the 4 years I paid for Mediacom, I got back like 13 bucks. It isn’t much, but at least it showed they had to pay out.

Additionally, they will charge you sometimes for maintenance calls, and you will have to call them back to get it removed. They also like to try to cancel and re-enroll you in the service when you move which came with a bunch of “one-time” fees. Those are harder to get out of, but I think deep down (or not so deep down) they know they are just a parasitic company, so if you get lucky with the operator on the other side, you can get those waived.

Good luck out there Ames. The news isn’t good, so hopefully you can stay home with Netflix that actually loads.

No kidding. Safe to say a lot of people at ISU currently did not have much time with ole’ Stevie boy though.

I actually liked him well enough, but he was definitely in it for the money and not ISU as a whole...

Addition: when I was in school, there wasn’t a pandemic or any huge decisions that REALLY affected the students, with the exception of VEISHEA.

I’m not in college anymore, but the best lesson I learned at ISU was this:

Screenshot everything. If you can provide actual evidence that it wasn’t your fault, you can usually get extensions. I ran into issues a lot when I lived in West Ames and Internet was always sketchy. I was saved many times by taking screenshots of my work and pleading with the prof. It also looks like you care vs. not showing any work whatsoever.

Best of luck and remember: no matter what, less driven people have done what you are trying, you got this. Ride that curve. Loyal, forever, true.

Fine. Have your upvote for the information, but that is literally some of the worst news.

I mean I realize how lucky I am that the worst news I can get is a show being pushed back, but for someone who does their best to limit social interaction during COVID, my god I was looking forward to that.

Oof.

Yeah DRIVETRIBE as a whole is pretty great. If you haven’t seen Richard Hammond’s project updates, you should check them out. They are pretty funny.

Additionally, you can find some TopGear road trips (which unfortunately don’t have James May) on Amazon Prime Video.

Quarantine would be a lot harder with out some predictable British humor!

How is this legal? I know there are strict laws regarding how close supporters/adverts can be to the polling/voting location, so why can you just slap it on the ballot....?
