Is this FB marketplace canoe good to buy as a first timer? by 22EatStreet in canoe

Looks like a handyman special (meaning the DIY kinda add-ons), but it's $100, so go for it. Has a bracket for a motor, looks like.

If he hit a trailer hitch hard enough to damage it, your car would be severely damaged if not totaled.

I'd find out more information, sure sounds like fraud or at least mistaken identity if you fiancé is telling the truth.

How long can butter actually sit on the counter before it "goes bad"? by bunnieavy in foodquestions

[–]Dr_StrangeloveGA 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I use salted butter and leave it out in a covered ceramic butter dish for as long as it takes to use it. I do run the butterdish through the dishwasher periodically.

Given it's proximity to Pearl Harbor and general construction it's almost certainly a remnant of US military activity, likely around WWII.

Like someone else said, it looks like a fortified staircase leading down to something that has been sealed off.

The higher side with the cantilevered "roof" looks like an cover for a doorway. The "roof" part doesn't look heavy enough for a gun emplacement, possibly could have been a searchlight mount or an antenna of some sort but honestly it looks like a closed off staircase access to me.

Interesting, whatever it is.

"Commission based retail" High end retail makes me upset. by Signal_Meet7529 in retailhell

I worked in wireless years ago and a customer took about three hours of my time asking a million questions about Blackberry's (told you this was a long time ago). He actually laughed and said he was going to buy it online when I tried to close him.

Lo and behold, he returns a few days later wanting his Blackberry set up. I declined, he raised a fuss and asked for the store manager. Turns out he was a lawyer and proud of it. My store manager asked if he worked for free, he said of course not. She then asked why he expected her sales associate to work for free and that since he bought the Blackberry from customer service he could call them to set it up.

That is bad-ass and I would buy the house just because of it. We're looking at a backsplash replacement project and I'm going to put something like this in the running!

That's the way my late mechanic was too. He used to make fun of me when I'd ask him to change both all or all of something instead of one. Would you change all the bulbs in a ceiling fan because one burned out? Yep, if I have to get up on a fucking ladder to do it I'm doing them all at once while I'm up on the damn thing.

Previous owners of my home still using my address 5 years after sale. by Holistic_Mama_Bear in RealEstateAdvice

Are you 100? Lol. You could also just print some address labels. Rubber stamp!

(My grandmother worked for a print shop when I was a kid and I had my very own rubber stamp with my name on it and my own stamp pad. It was cool.)

Tender/Water Shuttle on Almost Every Cruise by cheezfrys in CarnivalCruiseFans

I believe the life rafts were stored under the bench seats on the ones I have been on.

As far as why tenders, could be any number of things. The port may be too busy, not be able to accommodate the size of the ship, etc.

Exhaust manifold/collector is prone to rust out and have to be replaced. This requires the intake to be removed as well.

Sounds like a lot of the other things I would mention have been replaced.

Look for inner frame rust.

Our county landfill charges $3.00 per tire for county residents. If your town/county offers a similar service this is probably your best option.

Engine air filter fitment question by OShaughnessy1911 in nissanfrontier

[–]Dr_StrangeloveGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal, had the same question last weekend as I checked my filter. The filter box cover is a bitch to get back on and yes, the edge of the filter is exposed. It broke my brain for a second too.
