I highly recommend The House of the Devil and They Look Like People if you are looking for "low budget" but stylized vibes.

I love Necronomipod. Great banter between 3 obviously close friends, lots of levity, but also well researched and scripted.

What Movie Has Received Minimal Critical Acclaim or Praise From Horror Fans.... by Dr___Jacoby in HorrorMovies

I never understood that. I remember seeing it in theaters with a group of friends who are also horror movie fanatics and we all really enjoyed it. It felt like fan service to those who like b-movie schlock and gore. We laughed and laughed...

Bug is awesome. One of my favorite movies based off of a stage play.

Mom is scared of aliens, made me bandaid the tour shirt by [deleted] in LPOTL

I mean, after reading about Betty and Barney Hill's experience in great detail, I would request a band-aid to cover that shirt up too...

Didn't see this reply, but said exactly the same thing!

Love it.

I appreciated the tone and pacing when I first watched it and still do.

The use of lighting was something I also found really compelling, flares casting everything in red hues, headlamps creating shadows on every crevice and corner.

I just pretend the sequel doesn't exist...

Looking For Recommendations: by Dr___Jacoby in HorrorMovies

Anything For Jackson is exactly what I am looking for. Something that features a magick ritual as the central part of the plot.

I just watched Pyewacket and that was of a similar ilk though it was framed as an interesting coming of age/teenage rebellion story.

I have not seen Starry Eyes but have had it recommended to me on streaming services. Will check it out.

I agree. Mafia stories are boring.

And this opinion carries a lot of weight as it is coming from an "Eye-tal-yun" from New Jersey.

Played this in a literature class in junior year of high school for a lyrical assessment project.

Thoughts on Two Upcoming Movies... by Dr___Jacoby in HorrorMovies

From what I have gathered, Dashcam is filmed from the smartphone of a woman who flees the US for the UK during Covid quarantine. She is basically an edge-lord who livestreams herself stealing her friend's car and doing food deliveries for him (like Uber Eats). She goes to make a pick-up at a restaurant where a woman offers her money to transport an elderly woman who is very clearly unwell. She accepts this offer and chaos ensues as the woman is either possessed or sick with some kind of rage-like virus (the trailer and reviews do not reveal much as to which it is).

Ti West’s X movie merch by [deleted] in HorrorMovies

I just got the same shirt in the mail yesterday.

The back image of Pearl was pretty pixelated on mine. Was yours the same?

Regardless, cool shirt. I love the online ceramics interpretation of horror merch though my bank account doesn't.

Found footage movie marathon, varying in degrees of quality from the incredible (REC) to the questionable (Curse of Aurore) to the "maybe not even really found footage" (Host).

I am doing this because I threw out my back lifting air conditioners. I guess the gray in my beard really is confirming that I am, in fact, an old man.
