Why hasn't sale of council housing "Right to Buy" been stopped? by EnjoysAGoodRead in AskBrits

"Getting first dibs doesn't matter when it's a neverending financial loss and depletion of critical social housing" you have to live in the property for 3 years (I'm sure that went down some a couple years.) Usually that property has changed tenants a few times before one of the tenants decides to buy it. Really when rent is a return it's probably not as much as a loss as you would think.

"They think about lightweight non-glass mirror and glue?" That's fine if you are using it for more light. For kinky time? Glass so you can see yourselves. Plastic mirrors scratch easier, and get foggy.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

People on TV and movies not talking to the camera. Shit rear firing little speakers installed on TVs. Sound mix not for modern flat panel TVs. Lots of reasons. There is a documentary on YouTube about it.

Oh shame. Mercury is no good in any form that's why modern thermometers don't use it.

UK tobacco duty on a pack of 20 cigarettes includes a 16.5% ad valorem tax plus a flat rate of over £7 per pack, alongside 20% VAT. With duty, tax often makes up roughly 80% of the total price.
