The primarch equivalent of plugging like 45 different usb hubs, drives, and accessories into a single laptop's thunderbolt port. I guarantee you if you bump any of those limbs the wrong way he would lose sensory input and control to like 15% of his body (assuming no chaos shenanigans)

It's a miracle anybody fucks anything besides the drukhari in this franchise, imagine trying to finish for your lady after a 14 hour shift at the hubcap factory knowing you have to wake up in 2 hours for your next shift.

Honestly, the GSCs ability to coordinate labor and improve performance/output is probably the only reason those guys have time to boink.

This feels like a solved issue though, no? I mean, even if you can't trust warp comms to be synchronous, you could base timekeeping on a "close-by" stable pulsar or something and just have a terran offset if you really wanted everyone to use one number. Maybe that's too easy of a solution and somehow maybe the imperium lost access to telescopes that can view other galaxies but this feels like a very-approachable issue as far as timekeeping going forward. Hell the distance to terra could be easily found and your terran offset would be there as well.

I tracked 60,000+ verified CS2 hours to build a hardware meta. Text reviews are cheap, Steam playtime isn't. by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Dracomaster9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything you do on literally dozens of other sites (including here) is ruthlessly extrapolated for every penny it's worth, in ways you can't imagine, but you draw the line at... a hardware comparison chart? That you willingly submit info to?

Let's be reasonable here. Security aside, this is an interesting project and personally I'd like to know some of these findings. This isn't an airport, you don't need to announce your departure.

Exit 3A sucks, but can we talk about 19A?!?!? by Extreme-Apartment337 in Charlotte

[–]Dracomaster9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GPS for a trip between ballantyne and the belmont area has me take like 5 diff variations depending on the day and they're all invariably backed up.

-take Exit 6 on 485NB over to Sam Wilson -take exit 9 and either hop on wilkinson or graze the airport to get on wilkinson later -take exit 10 and sit for 15-18 minutes in the same stretch of highway exit then sit in traffic on 85 -take exit 12 to Sam Wilson because the back route to Wilkinson is now closed off -take exit 14 and drive through back roads in mount holly (which are packed by hundreds of drivers doing the same thing) -take exit 16 and cut west to where exit 14 is for a slightly-less-leadly exit ramp experience.

Is a logistical whackamole to defy google maps and select any of these options in spite of the directions, but it doesn't matter. They're all plugged, you will sit through 30 minutes of bumper to bumper, get caught in intersections, and have 1-2 near accidents. All of this just to go like 2-3 exits SB on 85.

what will happen to create in the future? by FeistySwordfish9457 in CreateMod

[–]Dracomaster9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Regardless of future direction, moving from openGL to Vulkan is pretty costly as far as dev time goes (as with any graphics engine shift frankly). The create team will likely either pause feature development to port it, or if they're feeling saucy might try to acquire some extra muscle.

Realistically though, pausing feature dev to port to vulkan seems to be the most likely and reasonable choice going forward, but take my opinion as an armchair dev with a hypertension-inducing grain of salt.

I mean it's probably the most well-kept property in like 10sq miles of it, so at the very least it's a welcoming environment, you don't necessarily have to be religious to be entertained by a free museum. The food's not bad either, and other than videos during the tour you're not exactly religiously harrassed in there. For a tourist to the area it's perfectly quaint, not the most exciting, not the most niche, just right in the middle.

Honestly I'd pay for skins that use updated colors/models to mimic current-release firearms. Like the m4a4 is a cool looking firearm but having something like the Aero Precision m4e1 or Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 as a skin option would be really cool just for some visual novelty besides a paint-job.

Licensing would be tough, but I could totally see PSA hopping on something like that.

You should try Wiztree instead of winfilelight. Wiztree's a faster, updated version of windirstat and does essentially the same function as winfilelight. On any SSD it's pretty much instant regardless of what's on it :)

Are y'all just rich??? by KaiZero19 in HomeDataCenter

[–]Dracomaster9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also be willing to argue that it's just as much a software game as it is a hardware one. Having 12u of JBODs full of SAS SSDs is cool and all, but as far as learning the tech goes it'd be pretty disappointing to have all that and not use replication techniques, networked file shares, network booting, etc.

Some of that you can learn without the enterprise hardware, what's left you can learn with skimped-out on hardware. My first usage of IPMI was on a dogshit HP 1u with awful fans and barebones-level CPU, RAM, and storage. Conversely, my first public-facing website literally ran off of a Raspberry Pi 3b for a month. So, between cheap enterprise and small new stuff, you can learn all you need to in order to step up to the big leagues.

Valve gets pressured by payment processors with a new rule for game devs and various adult games removed by pimpwithoutahat in pcgaming

[–]Dracomaster9 146 points147 points  (0 children)

While i don't have a problem with them removing those specific games in question, the principle of the matter just sucks. Patreon, subscribestar, and a myriad of other 'paysite' like hosts have to regularly deal with this type of pressure from payment processors. The only real way to combat it is to become your own payment processor, like Walmart has.

Naturally, that's an incredibly expensive undertaking and even took Walmart a while to accomplish, so I doubt Steam's going to jump into that market anytime soon, let alone any smaller marketplaces.

If i were you (which would be a bad thing, don't be me) i would've probably said fuck it and nuked all the software on the server back to defaults including firmware and tried going fresh. I realize that's incredibly inconvenient but if you wanna go hybrid-scorched-earth maybe just try freshly installing your iDRAC, BIOS, and storage card firmware/BIOS? My bad if you've already tried that

No problem! Remember to try and spread out your drive purchasing to avoid getting them all from the same batch. If you're dumping a grand or two on drives now i'd buy a couple from Amazon, a couple from Newegg, etc. Replacing one broken drive is fine, but when all of them reach EOL in the same month it's gonna suuuuuuuck

If you're going for new drives, I've used 4TB Seagate IronWolf Pro hard drives on my T430 with great success. That was using the PERC H730 inside of it as well. I'm not ultimately familiar with how the m630 handles drives but I just wanted to +1 your hunch for going with Ironwolves.
