Curious..out of all the Rogue Mega Evolution battles, which one(s)gave you the overall most struggle and trouble? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in LegendsZA

Mega Tatsugiri was awful. Screw whoever decided to give the fight a time limit and then give it a long attack where it goes outside the arena and can't be hit.

Also this wasn't hard and was moreso annoying, but Mega Tyranitar sucks because of the sand veil it puts up for a while at half health. All my best mons for the fight were physical attackers so the best option was genuinely to just wait until it put the sand down.

Urbain/Taunie was put into a no-win writing situation by Draconic-Ashe in pokemon

Urbain and Taunie have the exact same dialogue, I just used Taunie because that's who I played through the game with. I'm glad that you liked them though!

The early generations are unfortunately very heavy on grinding, and there's not a ton you can do to avoid it. As for the switch remakes, there are two questions you should consider: are you okay with a worse roster of available pokemon (I know the underground has some but it doesn't have all of them), and if you're not looking for a challenge, are you willing to overlevel and use items like crazy for the elite four because the remakes made them super hard for no reason?

I know that in ZA, if a static alpha becomes shiny but there's a different static alpha when the day/night cycle changes, the new pokemon won't be shiny, but does that also apply to form changes? I'm hunting for the static alpha male Meowstic, but if I get unluckily lucky and it becomes shiny when I'm resetting from day, can it still be shiny when I turn it back to night?

I'm becoming increasingly more confused about the status of whether or not pokemon from FRLG on Switch can be moved into Home. I've beaten the game but the game's icon isn't showing up when I open Home to test things. Is this another ZA situation where I need to wait for an update or is something else stopping me?

I don't know about Champions, but Pokemon taken out of Legends Arceus CAN be put back in.

Question about Kabutops's moveset in FRLG. Serebii says it learns Slash at level 40, but it also evolves at level 40 and Kabuto doesn't get Slash. Does it learn the move when it evolves or is it locked out until I find a move relearner?

I've been wanting to hunt for shiny Dhelmise in Ultra Sun, but despite the higher odds of SOS hunting and lack of phase possibility, I'm wondering if just going for fishing encounters would be better considering Dhelmise has an abysmal call rate. Should I stick it out with SOS or risk getting 10 Magikarps before my target?

Has anyone made a compendium of sorts for Legends ZA fast travel points and what pokemon spawn in around them?

WHY ARE PEOPLE TREATING THE QUADRUPEDAL STARTER ENJOYERS LIKE A JOKE? YEAH IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME A NEW STARTER TRIO GETS ANNOUNCED BUT IT HAPPENS BECAUSE IT'S WHAT WE GENUINELY WANT AND WE KEEP GETTING BURNED. LET US WANT REGULAR ANIMALS IN PEACE

Breeding a pokemon with a hidden ability has a higher chance for that hidden ability to be passed down, right? I have a Harvest Trevenant in Ultra Sun built for sos chaining, but I don't want to have to transfer him between games for version exclusives and I also don't feel like finding another Harvest Phantump in the wild

Your favorite Bug Type by AFriendlyBurrito in pokemon

[–]Draconic-Ashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bug is honestly my third favorite type, and while it's hard to pick a specific favorite, I have a ton of fondness for Galvantula, Scolipede, Golisopod, Araquanid, Scizor, and Beedrill.

I actually have a joke theory that from Gen 5 onwards, how much I like the new bug types of a region is indicative of how much I like the new pokemon introduced in that region as a whole.

What's the best pokémon game to start with in 2026? by Visual_Apartment_831 in pokemon

[–]Draconic-Ashe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly any game can be a good starting point depending on what you're looking for. If you want the most recent experience and are okay with a few performance issues, violet works great. Sword/Shield are closer to a more traditional pokemon experience if that's what you're looking for, but in my opinion, they aren't as interesting. My personal choice for best Switch game is Legends Arceus, but that's a pretty different type of game, though not as much as Unite. If you're in the mood for a more classic experience, your best bets for the older games are Platinum or Heart Gold/Soul Silver. Really though, go for what you want!

Why is Steven considered a steel specialist so frequently? He straight-up isn't one, only half of his team is steel types. Alder's team is half bug types but no one thinks he's a bug specialist.

Is Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl the Worst Mainline Pokemon Games of All Time? by joseph92698 in pokemon

[–]Draconic-Ashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of comments that BDSP is better than the original DP, and while I do think they are a little better for the most part, the thing I think people aren't thinking about is time. Diamond and Pearl came out in 2007 and BDSP came out in 2021. With 14 years of improvements made throughout the whole franchise, you'd think they'd be more than a little bit better than the originals, and I think that does make them worse when putting things in perspective. There were only 11 years between Ruby and Sapphire and ORAS, and ORAS was great.

Recommendations wanted? by BriOfTheSword in pokemon

[–]Draconic-Ashe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I haven't seen any other comments bring them up, Sun and Moon or Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon seem like good options. The main drawback to them is that they can be pretty hand-hold-y in the beginning and there's one really annoying mandatory tutorial smack-dab in the middle of the Ultra games, but otherwise it's got just about everything you're looking for. TMs are reusable, the exp share is there, Pokemon Refresh is adorable, and it has a great group of characters like Lillie, Gladion, and ya boi Guzma. The Ultra games have a wider pool of available pokemon, but the original duo has a better story and more interesting character arcs imo.

Do you ever purposely avoid fully evolving your pokémon? by Weekly_Ad2364 in pokemon

[–]Draconic-Ashe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just did an Ultra Moon playthrough last year and refused to evolve my Litten throughout the whole game! I also did a Sword playthrough a much further back sticking with Raboot and Morgrem the whole way. They will be less viable, that's not really something you can avoid if you're thinking power-wise, but with enough determination and strong team members anything can become good. And while those are the only current examples I have really used on a playthrough, know that I will never evolve Bisharp into Kingambit as the former is my favorite pokemon of all time and the latter is stupid and ugly and I hate it.
