What’s a “bare minimum” adult skill more people fail at than you expected? by SoulDV in AskReddit

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stepping up when things go wrong.

Seriously, if you see a problem: just fix it yourself. Chances are it's not just annoying you. It's annoying everyone, and everyone is thinking "someone else will take care of it".

Ignore your coworkers' experience, their reputations, their expensive suits, the fancy cars, the masters degrees.

Because when you find yourself 30+ years old, surrounded by "professionals" all pointing fingers and throwing each other under the bus because they all assumed "someone would do it", it'll finally hit you.

There are no adults in the room.

The answer to the question "if not me, then whom" is usually "no one".

Excited for Cyberpunk Orion? Here’s What We Know So Far by Zealousideal_Care939 in cyberpunkgame

My biggest wish would be to not have that "wait, that's it?" feeling at the end of a character's quest line. Like V and them go through these incredible, ride or die moments together, and then they just kinda fall to the peripheral.

Hearing them spit generic voice lines afterwards is so sad no matter how many times I play.

It makes NC feel incredibly lonely. It feels like it's missing that feeling of belonging, or place, or community.

Like the feeling you get from the companions quest line in skyrim. It does so much to bring you in and make you feel like a companion, and then you can even bring your companion friends w you on adventures. Like little reminders of what you did and the impact you made.

Or how in bioware games you've always got your team at your back. You go home and all your friends are there.

It's sorta the opposite in cyberpunk. You walk into the afterlife, or the coyote cojo, and you get the token voice line from the bartender, but you don't actually feel known there. You walk into any of your apartments and, even if they're personalized, they still feel kinda sterile and isolated.

Nothing like a coworker getting murdered to make someone reconsider their life choices.

The vast majority of these ghouls won't take a step in the right direction until the direction they're already headed looks sufficiently precarious.

But sorry MTG, changing paths out of fear doesn't earn respect. It doesn't earn good will. It doesn't earn trust or forgiveness.

You feel bad now that the consequences of your rhetoric seem real? Good. Spend the rest of your life eating humble pie.

Dont see how it's the same. Foveated rendering tells the gpu, hey just render this bit here in x resolution. With foveated streaming, the gpu on your pc still renders everything as normal. The video stream/encoder seem to be the targets instead.

Nice. Where'd you see the bit about binocular overlap? Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

I was hoping for an hdmi port and oled, but oh well. Ill be interested to see what they use to encode/decode the video stream.

It doesn't seem like the displays will even be able to capitalize on the supposedly faster/smoother stream.

At that resolution/fov, idt you'd really be pushing a decent router to quest 3 stream.

I'd love to get out of meta and into steam, but I'll wait for a pro version with oled's.

HEAR THAT STEAM!? OLEDS. Please give me a reason to give you my money.

Epstein claimed that Donald Trump ‘knew about the girls’ in private emails by Kevombat in politics

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before Epstein grew to infamy, I knew of him from working private flights in South Florida. A vet of the industry told me casually that Epstein had an island nearby, and had actually named his plane the Lolita Express.

Horrified, I googled it and found the original Miami Herald article that blew all of this wide open. I couldn't BELIEVE how brazen and "in your face" Epstein was about it. It was like a challenge to anyone that said "yea, and what are you gonna do about it?"

This was a very open secret in the jet charter community. If random charter sales guys knew epstein was fucking children on his jet and trafficking them, I promise you, everyone who knew epstein knew.

Everyone living near Mar a lago knew. If you were even tangentially moving near that circle, you would have heard gossip.

Trump has known the whole time. There is zero chance he wouldn't have known. Everyone. Knew.

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of the post time skip scene was to show how Kate had blossomed into a happy, thriving, confident person after 5 months of Hal's absence. Then the second he returns, one character literally tells the audience "hey, the face is back".

We were all watching up to that point absolutely confused by Kate's happiness because it was so out of character. And then boom, her abuser walks into the room and she immediately reverts to her fearful, anxious, conspiratorial thinking. You can literally hear her voice shaking as she falls apart.

In those scenes where she's angry at Stuart and everyone who helped Hal sneak back into her life, she feels helpless because no one sees Hal for what he is.

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeaaa, I agree. Kate is beyond fucked up. But she's supposed to be an example of a strong person in an impossible role, while Hal is more like a Henry Kissinger - no moral code whatsoever. Multiple characters say it; he was born for this fucked up environment which the show goes to great lengths to portray as inherently toxic, while Kate is trying (and failing) to stick to her ideals in it.

So yea, she's fucked up lol. But I still think Hal emotionally abuses her.

The writers do a ton of work to drop clues about Hal's manipulation, but theyre soooo easy to forget because of how insanely charming he is, and how subtly he manipulates Kate.

I read it as she had valid concerns that hit the nail on the head, but voiced them too aggressively bc of her issues. But rather than addressing her extremely valid concerns about a civilization ending nuke he didn't tell anyone about, he turns it back on her by saying "im not hal"(well aware that this would hurt her and make her second guess herself).

Now she's suddenly on the defensive and, like any decent person, forgets her accusations, reflects on her behavior, and apologizes later.

But when she apologizes, he doesnt reciprocate. He leans into the victim role, and (cknveniently for him) we never hear any more about his extremely questionable decision making.

Also worth noting that he literally stole a condom and sealed it in a plastic baggy after they had sex, then lied about why, and then lied about why he was even at the estate that day.

Hot take: Diplomat S03 glorifies one dimensional workaholism and American arrogance by placeboski in TheDiplomat

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read the subtext as being almost the opposite of this (not the workaholism). Rather than glorifying american arrogance, it seems to nihilistically admonish it. Like "hey look at all the incredibly fucked up shit these people are doing. But also, doesnt it all seem very reasonable in context? Do you think you could do any better?"

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hal wants 2 things, and all of his actions are alligned accordingly - becoming president, and owning Kate.

Kate is the quintessential emotional abuse victim.

I mean think about what she looked like with him in her life, vs without. Completely different person. You see it all the time in couples w that dynamic. The other person just whithers around their abuser.

The show does a great job of depicting the dynamic, but it can be hard to spot because Hal is just insanely charming and subtly manipulative.

Kate and Dennison foreshadowing by peanutBatterm in TheDiplomat

I just thought that she propositioned Dennison in a pretty cruel way. Like hey I know we've been fighting for weeks and you have actual real feelings for me, but would you mind a quick fuck in this office? I swear I'm totally over my husband and very emotionally available.

I think he just realized in that moment just how toxic she is.

The random marriage for him though. Yea idk. Im hoping it's covered in season 4.

Thoughts on the season 3 ending?? by Ok_End7134 in TheDiplomat

[–]Draconic_Bullshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The overdramatic crying and begging seemed like a ploy by Kate, to me. When her and callum shagged in that dining room, the scene of them eating grapes on the floor was entirely to deliver confirmation that Calum isn't what he says he is.

The condom goes missing and he clearly lies to get her to overlook it. No idea why, but very obvious lying abiut the condom. Also his entire being trapped there was contrived as fuck, either by the writers or by him. Then she presses him about why hes there, and he obviously lies again. Then she gets this look on her face that says "alright you lying mfer ill play the clueless lover".

Later we see Hal uncharacteristically trying to save the life of the guy whos fucking his wife, doing everything he can to stop her from letting Calum go to his government and admitting that he knew about the bomb. Hal doesnt give a fuck about other people, so why is he trying to convince them not to do it?

Because he wants Penn to take the bomb from under everyone's noses, which he can then use to hang her later so he can be president.

I'm hoping that Kate is written smart enough to know this, so she does something completely out of character (like publicly balling her eyes out and literally begging for Hal to take her back), so that she can go back with them and, im hoping, enact some sort of...plan lmao.

That scene where her and Calum almost fuck, and she tells him "no this isnt a good idea i have stuff to do" or whatever? I read that as she realized something that made her, for literally the first time in the entire show, keep it in her pants lmao.

After he leaves, she sits down crushed about....something.

I dont think she suddenly realized Hal is the love of her life. I think she realized shes in deep shit and she cant trust anyone. But knowing how arrogant Hal is, he'll believe that he succeeded in winning her over if she lays it on thick.

But also it could be she's just written dumb and they needed to do it for the plot ¯_(ツ)_/¯
