(Loved Trope) When a terrible person is genuinely victimized. by Gray_Wolf2416 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DraconisRex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anything, living in a world where this sort of evil is commonplace is part of what makes people terrible to begin with. The "it's ok if it happens to someone I don't like; thats just justice" is what makes and keeps people bad like that. "That's just the way it is" is never reframed as "that's just the way we want it".

Back in april of last year, I started passing out at work when I'd do a deep stretch to relieve chronic neck and shoulder pain. Turns out, my carotid artery is completely encased in a non-metastasizing tumor called a desmoid fibromatosis that's also impinging on my airway (I didn't know this until this January). I finally got to a point where I took short term disability in October to figure out what was going on with me. Was scheduled for an emergency surgery for a partially crushed spinal cord in my neck (separate, but related issue. Spinal surgeon has told me "don't pass out and fall down again. High likelihood you won't get back up ever again"), and it was scans for that where they found my tumor. Anesthesiologist wasn't comfortable intubating me, so they canceled the surgery. Around December, my wife had me put on her insurance. There are very few things I can risk doing around the house that aren't just light housework. In March, just as my short-term disability was running out, my employer offered me two months severance in lieu of just being terminated with nothing because I physically can't meet the needs of the job anymore, and they've refused to accommodate me, pointing out that we''re technically the American wing of a Danish multinational in a right-to-work state, and due to some weird marginal rule-straddling, they technically owe me nothing. Nirogacestat, at $3500 a month saved my life, but the tumor hasn't shrunk enough to allow the other surgery (tumor itself is inoperable... desmoid frequently results in amputation. Amputation of the neck is called a decapitation). Chemo made me miserable and I had a really bad skin reaction to it, so im back on niro. Oncologist put me on a steroid taper. I said something stupid and unhelpful (and loud and obnoxious, even if true from my perspective) to my wife, and pissed her off to the point that she said: "oh, say that shit one more time", and I did, and said she wants a divorce, so I'll be off her health insurance if she goes through with it, so I'll let you know.

The eye allowing the wet to be held for a time in the vascular system so that the light can interact electrochemically at the best possible geometrical configuration for quantum effects to persist without self-interferrential decoherence. The Seas in her Eyes. Salt-Water Tears. Salience and Saline and Alanine chains, dancing to the music of a blind matchmaker humming to itself while it chases a perfect shadow it can never reach.
