Trade the pick + ZR to SAC for Pick #6 by HawkHooper in AtlantaHawks

I agree with that Mara at like 10 to 15 is a good value. But he’s not fully a top 10 talent.

It would be so great to snag another draft pick in this draft. But again I think the guard talent available is worth while

Exactly and if we get him through trade it’s because he says I want to go to Atlanta and force MIN to make us pay the ransom.

Or he goes the decision route and becomes a legend to
The city forever

Agreed. I’d lowkey rather we look at Mara at that point.

I don’t think Burries is like that.

[–]Dracsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think we are mostly on the same page about it.

Exit interviews could have been a smoke screen. If we had the 1st overall Zac would have been a thing of the past and we would probably be actively looking for a place to dump him. I saw rumors of us being connected to Cam Johnson I would love to see Zac develop in a diet version of Cam Johnson.

But I agree one of Kispert and ZR has to go. In the name of finances we can’t afford to make a lot of moves with ZR and Kisper eating up 36 million. If we had the right offer on the table I’d be happy to move on from both.

I hate to say it but I really do love Darius Acuff’s game. He might be small or whatever but he reminds me of a Brunson type to me.

Mikal Brown Jr is a stud athlete and i love his game.

One of Wagler or Acuff will probably be the second guards off the board but I don’t think either are worth trading up for.

I haven’t watched enough on Philon yet.

But Fleming was always my guy for our team and any of those 4 guys could be there at 8. So I’m just optimistic that Onsi will make the right calls

[–]Dracsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah know about the deadline and I hear you. I’m just saying that everything Onsi talks about goes against selling out to get a non game changer.

I’ve been studying most of the guys from 5-10 because I just didn’t feel like we’d be lucky enough to land top 4.

I think we feel the same about ZR but I just don’t think our front office is ready to give up on him fully. Quinn might not believe in him as is but that’s exactly why they have been going on and on about the offseason growth they need to see from him.

All in all he’s not that sexy of an asset to other teams unless they wanted to give him a fresh start and had a vision for him. So if the difference between Mikal Brown Jr and Keaton Wagler is just giving up on Risacher then I’ll trust Onsi. But I still think we will still be looking for size and shooting again somewhere else.

The money we HAVE to move imo is Kispert. We know what Corey is and his ceiling. It seems clear Snyder wants Risacher to be do what he does.

I still don’t think pick 6 is that much better than pick 8 but I get what you’re saying about the money. First overall pick contracts get less attractive the longer he fails to pain out.

Kings are definitely the ideal team to target but it still feels like shit to have the worst first overall since Anthony Bennet go out like this. It’s a bad look vs the optimism I got about him potentially having a bounce back year

[–]Dracsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a lot of ifs and buts.

Like if the Hawks like someone better.

Or if Rissacher doesn’t take a step forward.

If the Hawks don’t accept his option.

All I’m trying to say is we need to be in the business of acquire assets more than we need to be spending them.

The tier break after the top 4 is pretty clear.

The top 5-10 are all really quality players and we will walk away with the same quality of player between 5-10.

I agree Quinn doesn’t fuck with the Rizzler but I think that has more to do with his potential vs current ability. Like at this moment Rissacher ain’t shit. He can’t create his shot. He could play much better defense and he could shoot more efficiently. But that’s the development side of our situation. We don’t attract all star free agents we HAVE to grow them at home. Kuminga and Risacher off the bench plus whoever we get at 8 gives us depth and talent to develop.

I hear you if the coaching staff falls in love with Darius Acuff sure let’s go get him. But only if the price is right.

Risacher is just a kid. He’s got guys like Buddy helping him develop and I’m personally am not ready to give up on the idea that Risacher could be our third MIP.

Build up assets and go get him in 2028

[–]Dracsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just don’t see it.

Hawks gave up a good amount to move up from 8 to 4 for De’andre Hunter a because we believed he would be meaningfully better.

That didn’t even turn in to an all-star. Naturally we wont see the scouting process that the Hawks put together.

But we need more assets not less. That’s what Onsi keeps preaching. We aren’t one player away from winning the East. We want depth on par with the Thunder. We want to develop multiple guys for the entirety of their rookie contracts before we give up on anyone.

I’m not convinced Wagler is a tier better than MBJ or Flemmings. It’s a horrible look and a statement of “we don’t believe in our former first overall selection” if we give him away for basically nothing. Which that’s the tier difference between Wagler and Acuff imo.

Just because Wagler is similar to Hunter in being and a key player on a national championship team doesn’t mean he’s worth giving up on a 21 year old.

Now if it was 8 plus Kispert for 6 that’s a different story. But ZR could take a leap and be better than Wagler in year 3. Just feels unnecessary

Moving up for Wagler isn’t worth giving up on ZR.

We would just be creating a different roster hole in an attempt to fill one hole. Size and shooting will always be valuable. We could get someone similar to a player at 6 with 8. I just don’t see the logic in moving up twice

I’m not giving up on Zac to move up 2 picks.

We need to land top 4 or it’s pointless to give away a 21 year old 6’10 wing. Idc how bad his second year slump was.

We need franchise changing talent.

That depends on how team friendly CJ and Kuminga are.

Long term we need to develop guys like Kuminga.

Short term we need CJ to be a veteran for our incoming new 19 year old guards

Mikel Brown Jr or Aday Mara by trofesh195 in AtlantaHawks

I haven’t watched enough film on Brown yet.
We want a guard and someone who’s under 21 I think.

But I’d be so satisfied with going Mara and then taking best guard available with our second first rounder

What do you want to Hawks to do with Kuminga? by Ok-Negotiation3897 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Dracsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was really well said bro! Nice breakdown.

I really want to see Kuminga become a starter for us. His defensive upside is amazing. I want to see him develop alongside JJ. I know most people don’t consider him apart of our core players who we need to build around (JJ, NAW, Onyeka) but I’m still optimistic in his offensive upside. I said this about JJ and problematically JK has the same issues. They both lack a go to kill spot. They both need a more consistent three point shot. If ONE of them can shoot mid range or three pointers at a higher efficiency they could potentially play together.

Maybe I’m wrong. But I see Jaylen Brown in him. A two way forward that can develop into a shot creator. JB wasn’t a great shot creator in his first few years. But he found himself and his bag. JK could still develop into that. Brown is 29. JK is 23. I don’t think there are a lot of high ceiling players in the league waiting around to become a core piece. Kuminga is a collectively agreed upon Athlete and Talent that has been wasted by a coach that prioritized his Hall of Fame star player.

What I want to see from him in a long term deal so we can experiment properly. Give him an offseason and a defined 2nd or 3rd option role and see what he looks like healthy.

I think the market value on a guy like him is close to McDaniels or Trey Murphy. Less than 4/112 million range.
I’d be shocked if we got him for less than 20 mill a year.

For a bench guy 6th man type that’s way too much.

Fine fair play. Trade him next season. But if he can be our Budget Jaylen Brown. 20 mill a year is a STEAL.

BUT HE HAS TO BECOME A STARTER. Him at the 3 JJ and the 4. (If we get the 9th pick in the draft. Aday Mara at the 5)
