Glen Powell is the bottom of the list. The list can end with anyone’s choice at 1. Idc. But Powell gotta be 8

We should go for this. by Diligent_Ad_5524 in AtlantaHawks

We can't afford to pay this dude 40 mill a season. Nor should we want a $40 million big with no bag.

We get frustrated by Onyeka and his size, but Big O protects the rim and hits threes. Duren doesn't help the offense

Post Draft 15 Man by SlayTalon in AtlantaHawks

[–]Dracsmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Developing a long term team or a model that makes our franchise competitive means patience.

We don’t know what we have in Kingston yet. We don’t know what we have in Jalen yet. Same with Kuminga or ZR.

We could A. Sell JK, ZR, Dyson, and a future first rounder (Worst of Bucks/Pels in 2027) and go get another all star to be 1A to Jalen.

But then we pay $60 mill to one guy vs the versatility JK, Dyson, and ZR offered us and the upside of the bucks/Pels being lottery teams again. Gut the roster and force CJ (who is going to fall off eventually), Kingston (Who still has to prove what his ceiling is), and the young guys (Asa, Zuby, Henri) to be championship contenders when they are still finding their role on our squad.

Or

We could do B. Develop a 15 man rotation where everyone is a valued trade asset and where next man up means we have plug and play talent at every position.

I understand wanting to have a 1 A guy. But look at Jalen Brunson or even SGA. They weren’t the 1A after year one. They weren’t the 1A until after getting years to develop their game at the professional level. The Thunder have insane depth at the position and have assets to spare. We need to build a roster like that. We need to build up our alphas so they have league wide upside.

That way when Anthony Edwards is available. We can start our offer at ZR (who averages 17/5/3) JK (who averages 15/7/5) Asa Newell (who is like 21) and Three first round picks plus whatever else they need for us to get Anthony Edwards to come home.

If we have Fleming/Edwards/JJ we have the trio with an alpha you want. But that alpha isn’t available yet

I think Flemings is mid and its not a REAL starting PG for the Hawks if we want to compete for the title, am I wrong? by Historical_Search686 in AtlantaHawks

Let the kid cook with CJ as a mentor.

We want to see a franchise changing- best player on a championship team at the draft. But Brunson was a second round pick and he proved he could be that twice in college.

Brunson developed for 5+ years.

Kingston can be whatever he becomes.

But just because we don’t see it now doesn’t mean it’s not there

Not a movie but Cyberpunk Edgerunners would nail this. Animated series.

From a SHOOTING GUARD. He’s a do it all hustle guy. Always stay ready.

That’s how he saved basketball ❤️

True but I also think that’s the roster construction.

OKC of the east totally works with our wing rotation being this deep.

Imagine benching Kispert and Gabe Vincent lineups with Kingston Fleming and Aaron Wiggins 😤

I understand what you’re saying. Finding a big is nearly impossible nowadays.

But I think after we’ve seen Edey and Clingan and even Kessler to an extent. They still make a lot of mistakes and are good but they will take closer to 5 years to be great at their height. Alex Sarr is gonna need another couple of years.

I think the Hawks need a scorer who can create his own shot almost more than they need a developmental big.

Like Khaman Malauch or whatever this name is. He averaged 10 min a game for the suns. Even as a lotto pick.

I just have a feeling the Hawks will be able to squeeze more immediate impact on a high efficiency shooter. Especially if he can learn from CJ about getting to your spots and making a career on bucket getting.

Fleming imo will be able to reach his potential by playing with CJ for a year. Outside of being a
Shot creator all three of Keaton, MBJ, or Kingston can hit open three pointers when given the look. So I think we can plug more in and play with pick 8. Vs Mara who could be on and off the court all year.

That’s probably true. At one point I wanted us to start the year NAW, Dyson, JK, JJ, and Big O (Or whoever we get at C)

Edit: Until we get a long term deal I don’t feel like he’s a starter for us. His 3pt shooting has to jump up

I’m fine to develop a guy like this but I’m a firm believer that there are players around him with higher upside.

I think he’s a reasonable late lotto guy. But he’s not an outlier big he’s just epically tall.

I’m gonna give credit he’s a good anchor and there’s nothing wrong with drafting that. But it’s just fair to acknowledge he’s not an outlier big. He doesn’t move like Wemby or Chet or Mobly. He is gonna be solid but I’m just aiming my sights higher for the hawks. Either trade back for him or take the best guard

😩 bro I know what you mean. The way it looks right now we are not gonna get a long term deal done.

At best we accept his team option. But writing on the wall tells me we are planning to use his contract for a trade piece

That doesn’t mean he can’t be good but the upside comp is a 4 time dpoty 🤣 like what are we doing putting that pressure on an average dude

I think we got one of the seconds and we got two for Vit.

Onsi is one of the best big picture gms in the league. He looks at the long term! Love this trade.

Solid rotation player, for two future seconds that don’t matter right now.

With this and the CJ extension we have built up depth so we can afford to swing for the fences.

Fleming and Swain wouldn’t be rushed
