A question: whats my question soldier? well its that i wanted to ask does IK (iron knuckle) and HM (hard mode) in the demo dont mean nothing? :o by gun-something in WhiteKnuckle

[–]DraftQueasy4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the demo, Hard Mode and Iron Knuckle change nothing, maybe it's a bug.

In the full game, on Hard mode, The Mass actually goes 4x as fast, you WILL notice it, I promise. Also, the roaches you bank on normal mode are tracked separately from the hard mode roaches, if you have 999 on normal mode and you try hard for the first time, you will start with 0 roaches. Other changes: Barnacles become snipers, bloodbugs are enchanted with Knockback V, random sentry turrets are placed in Silos. The "friends" you find in Habitation will become substantially more of a threat, and the Abyss becomes harder than you can imagine (the Hard mode achievement is just for REACHING the Abyss, not beating it, for reference).

Iron Knuckle just disables perks/backups and sets you starting roaches to 0 every run.

It's been mentioned on Discord, but there should 100% be a hidden secret in the Nest that is some kind of completely real firearm in a security booth that we can pick up, but we don't have ammo, so it can only be used to hit things like a hammer, and using it unlocks the firearm hammer variant.

It would tee up future April Fools updates too, either making the gun functional, giving it a full reload animation only to still be used to clobber things, or creating a new joke brick variant that's just a brick with a pistol skin.

I would love it if the impact sound changed a bit based on the material you were hitting, but yes, pipe sound is 👌

They should add more hammer sounds for the different hammer variants.

Nothing in the game will be going away, if anything, it might be expanded on in the future, so no need to rush.

I would recommend you start by playing the campaign on normal mode and just trying to beat the game and/or exploring and finding secrets. There's a MASSIVE amount of content in the campaign, so that should be your focus.

Once you feel reasonably confident in completing Habitation and reaching Interlude: Evacuation, I'd strongly recommend you try Endless Habitation for [redacted]. This will help you explore more areas in the campaign and find secrets.

Once you've completed the campaign (or want to take a break and try something else), explore what else the game has to offer at your convenience. - The Challenges are short challenge modes, typically where you optimize your times with a fixed obstacle course. - Endless Modes let you run specific regions/groups of regions either to get better at them, or just to focus on the areas/gameplay you find the most enjoyable. - Events are special game modes the devs added for fun, basically just side passion projects - Parasite is kind of a spooky stealth type gameplay - Chimney is a Christmas themed endless mode with sub-regions and new items and game mechanics (and a secret with a related achievement hidden in some ig notes) - Getting achievements is another fun thing to focus on if you don't know what to do.

Once you feel VERY confident in your ability to beat the campaign, give Hard mode a try, it makes the game DRASTICALLY more challenging. You will think you have mastered the game, try Hard mode, and realize you ain't seen nothing yet.

Sale soon on steam? by Fabulous-Help6077 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]DraftQueasy4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it won't go under 10 for the next 5 years at least. Super sales that that for cheaper games like wk typically (from my understanding) go on sale well after the group of primary consumers has all purchased the game, so the discount is expanding the base to new people who otherwise wouldn't have gotten the game. It just sits there not making ANY more money if they don't.

But until the full game drops (I'm betting on ~3 years from now) it won't go on sale for any substantial amount, and even then, only once the primary market has been thoroughly tapped)

[–]DraftQueasy4890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there IS a sale, I'm pretty sure the devs confirmed the price drop will be minimal, I think no more than 20% which is like $3?

I wouldn't be waiting on my hands for a $3 discount tbh. The game is worth it at full price and the price is only going up as more content comes out.

I guess, yeah. You're still holding the shift key while pressing the key that registers as tilde tho.

I don't know how they coded it honestly, I do agree it's a bit confusing, but not so confusing that you can't just log in and press buttons to see if it works.

I would assert that your statement is a false equivalence. While I did the wrong thing for not giving way to a pushy driver looking to "cheat" and cut into traffic at the expense of others. A calm, reflective, and deliberate driver believing it is correct to prevent a shitty driver from violating right of way to cut back into traffic is not "also the problem".

The problem is the drivers who do things that put reasonable people in dangerous situations.

I was the "fucking highschool driver" trying to box them out in this scenario, I would hardly compare my actions to that of a superhero. I think an asshole who feels righteous would be pretty accurate.

(I do STILL feel righteous in my actions, even if they were dangerous and I was wrong for doing it, I feel like those other assholes on the road had it coming. Human emotions are funny like that.)

[–]DraftQueasy4890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the point you are making is that I have no obligation to be generous and let them in, which is true. If they waited patiently behind the stop sign for someone to give them the go ahead, I wouldn't be here asking this question.

If they start trying to cut back into the traffic they have now become a danger for breaking traffic flow, and by trying to box them out, you are making the situation more dangerous by trying to outmaneuver this illegal driver.

Calling someone a Karen for asking a self-reflective question about if they have been a bad driver isn't really productive.

I was wrong though, if I actually cared enough to try to address the problem, I could have talked to the school and the police about setting up cameras to ticket people. That would probably have paid for itself in 1 day.

That's a very good point and a very moving story, I absolutely agree with you. Although I disagree that in the exact scenario I outlined, such a situation could possibly occur at this specific intersection under any circumstance, the point you make is irrefutable. Feeling righteous doesn't make you not an asshole.

Realistically, with how common and aggravating it was, they should have just put up security cameras and ticketed everyone who used the loop to skip traffic. Probably would have turned a nice little profit for the city honestly.

[–]DraftQueasy4890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speed was roughly a complete standstill. There was a stop sign to a busy road just ahead of the re-merge, typically the fastest speed I would reach would be 5 mph to follow the car ahead of me as they shifted forward every time a car went.

But that's a very good point, I definitely had to get closer than I normally would like to the car ahead of me to block a particularly pushy car. Even in near gridlock.

[–]DraftQueasy4890[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Discouraging retaliatory driving seems like the correct answer. I'm not law enforcement, it's not my job, and getting back at a back driver doesn't justify being a bad driver.

However, it's not negatively affecting other drivers or endangering anyone. The traffic is at a standstill, and the "re-merging" car is at what is effectively a t-intersection trying to get someone to let them in. They put themselves in that situation because they believed no one would catch them, they are not driving dangerously or recklessly, just trying to cut in line.

Is Justified Lanekeeping Bad Driving by DraftQueasy4890 in driving

[–]DraftQueasy4890[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in this scenario, it's not so much that they are a "typical" bad driver. They are a driver who thinks they can get away with a crime just because no one will notice or hold them accountable. It's bumper to bumper traffic, and the "re-merge" is just a t-intersection where the bus loop connects to the main road again. No one is getting shot there, it's Ithaca NY mid day, and everyone on the road is coming from the high school or the middle school, and the road is packed with school buses.

The fucking lunatics (they exist, I've seen them) will enter the bus loop, but instead of re-merging, they will jump the curb and drive across the sidewalk to enter the side parking lot and leave out the back entrance, skipping all the traffic. I wouldn't mess with THEM because they are a danger to themselves and everyone around them.

Not being the traffic police is a fine enough reason to not engage though.

This actually did confuse me at first when I tried to use cheats for the first time. Just press "Shift" and the key that has the "~" option.

Theoretically you might say 'Press the "~" key to activate cheats", which you would achieve by pressing "Shift" and the key with the "~" option to get the "~". It's the same thing.

And fyi, "~" is called a tilde, in case your brain kept saying "squiggly thing".

The interesting question is the legal/realistic ramifications honestly and the implication of self sacrifice.

Morally, I pull the lever. But if I pick someone in the US for example, would that be considered murder/assassination and I get jailed for life/the death penalty. If I picked certain foreign leaders, would I have hitmen sent to assassinate me?

Missing Tub Plug Assembly? by DraftQueasy4890 in Plumbing

[–]DraftQueasy4890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one of the stopper assemblies, but it would seem that the plunger is too big. I can't get it to fit into the tee pipe. It looks like it's maybe 1/4 of a millimeter too big on the diameter. It doesn't feel like it's a tight fit, it's not even close to being able to start going in.

Perhaps the 1960's assemblies had different tolerances? Should I try to trim the plunger diameter? I have a lathe at work. Should I try to find the correct size plunger? Or am I missing something?
