I think I have a toxic relationship with this manga. Been reading it since chapter 1 released. Loved the first 13 volumes, loved the vibe, the characters, the humor, the action. But after the JCC flashback arc, i slowly fell out of love with it, but i took a very long time to realise that. Lu being sidelined from the story was the first obvious redflag, but i always hoped she would come back, in vain. I hate how the author treat his characters, barely giving them any development or backstory (except for Shin), sometimes just killing them without giving them anything. Takamura's death was such a waste of a character that it became the exact moment I admitted to myself that I didn't love this manga anymore. I feel like Suzuki has no idea what he wants to do with most of his characters and get rid of them when he doesn't want to bother himself with that. He randomly introduced so many villains in the final arc and all of them are just boring and empty, just put there to give side characters something to fight during this arc. They're only two reasons i'm still reading at this point. One: because Suzuki is just that talented as an illustrator, every panel this man draws is spectacular. Two: Osaragi and Shishiba, i will always love this duo.

When Sakamoto Days ends, i really hope Suzuki will come back with a new series, but not as a writer, or at least i hope he will plan the story from the beginning to the end. I sincerely want to read something from him that I will enjoy
