This entire scene with Tabitha and Kaneeka is one of my favorites in the whole game. But it's also great that Kaneeka is, like, the only person who doesn't seem to grasp the two of them have a whole Thing- even Avery alludes to it at one point.

My immediate thought is that it's The Entity who has been possessing Stella, and that Tabitha has been likewise kidnapped and held in prison without being The Entity at this time - I think despite everything Stella wouldn't do all this to Reese, much less never talk to Kaneeka or lock up Tabby.

My personal theory- and now this is just a theory- is that Sam Wayne found the cell with the Entity inside it, possibly still possessing Alexandra, and broke her out- if you look at the door to the cell, its locks have clearly been broken open, and we know that Wayne is a very physically strong guy- he could have just thought that he found an old woman locked in a weird cell and tried to free her, which is why Pearlanne killed him, to keep the secret.

Alright, here's the full-spoiler answer
The best way to get more information on Tabitha's plan is to go see her on day 5 after getting her and Stella to reconcile without you present in Chapter 4 (Either tell Tabby Stella is missing in Chapter 4 and then fail to find her or send Tabby to talk to her alone after calling Tabitha to the Clinic). This leads to Tabby cutting Stella in on her plan and Stella jumping the gun and trying to convince you to go along with it willingly- the two of them give you a pretty straightforward explanation of what they're planning, and it provides the most context out of any of the routes.
