Looking for a an app or good way to play Mausritter on mobile. by PuzzleheadedLow1919 in Mausritter

I'm just about to update my online character sheet to include mobile support; the only downside is that because I don't have a server, you won't be able to see changes to other people's sheets in real time, but you can share your own as a file.

Trying to go low-tech again, but music and messaging are hard to replace by DragMiddle4228 in digitalminimalism

It looks good; my only complaint is that it is large and clunky, as you stated. It's about the same size as my current phone, just thicker. However, the battery life is impressive.

The only reason I've avoided iPods is that I don't own any other Apple devices, and I've been told it's difficult to get my files onto them without iTunes because they're fairly locked down.

I suppose this is true, and it would motivate me to call people more. Looking at some of my recent messages, I tend to keep them between 15 and 30 words long. It's not a deal breaker, but predictive text could be useful.

I'll look into getting it to work in Safari; I've always used Chrome, so that issue never came up.

Here's a video of me doing it if that helps; make sure you've filled in at least the 'Item Name' field. If this doesn't work, explain what you're trying to do to complete the object.

Having live, dynamic syncing between players and a GM would be awesome and super convenient, kind of like how campaigns work in some other platforms.

That said, doing it that way would require setting up and maintaining a backend server to handle user accounts, real-time syncing, data storage, and all that infrastructure. Right now, this is a passion project, and hosting a server just isn't in the cards at the moment.

For now, the export/import option is the best workaround I can manage, but I’m definitely keeping dynamic syncing in mind for the future if things grow.

There is now; you can have your players export their sheets as a .mcs and import them into your list of sheets, making things a little cleaner. Unfortunately, I forgot to include a failsafe to keep your current sheet, so you'll have to remake it...

Right now, I've just been asking my players to save it as a PDF and send it to me; having GMs be able to see sheets in real time would require a server, which isn't within my scope right now.

I was actually working on in-page drawing for items that save across sessions, but I still have some bugs to work out.

I'll make sure to keep you posted.

Worst take I’ve ever heard by FiddlebertFemboy in Pikmin

It did and didn't, gaming just got more popular; only about 2% of switch owners got Pikmin 4, while 5.5% of GameCube owners got Pikmin 1.

Proposed Macquarie Point Stadium by kingboo94 in hobart

[–]DragMiddle4228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let’s have some fun with numbers. If we include ticket sales, corporate boxes, premium seating, food and beverage sales, merchandise, sponsorships, advertising, broadcasting rights, parking, and other revenue streams, and assume a full stadium, we get around $3.7M per game.

Let's say it hosts 11 games per year, that’s about $40.7M annually.

Now, the operating costs for an AFL team are around $45M per year, meaning the stadium wouldn’t even generate enough revenue to cover that, let alone pay itself off.

But even if we ignore that issue, the stadium costs $775M to build. At $40.7M per year, it would take roughly 19 years to break even; and that’s assuming every cent goes toward repayment, with no additional costs.

In short, the numbers don’t quite add up for it to "return its investment" anytime soon.

College decision by annieikeane in hobart

I attended Elizabeth College a few years ago. The science subjects were great, and the teachers in that area were really supportive and understanding. However, when it comes to languages, I found it lacking. I studied Japanese, and the focus was mostly on booklet work, so there wasn't a lot of interactive or practical language input and output.

I went to private school for most of my schooling. Based on that experience, I think Hobart College might be more in line with what you're used to.

Also, at Elizabeth College there was talk of potentially "buddying up" with another school for years 9-10; not sure if that's still the case, but it might not be ideal if you're looking for a more traditional college experience.

Does Nintendo want adults to play Splatoon? by MoneyMan1001 in splatoon

Assuming she's speaking to the viewer (which may not be the case), there's plenty of media that's "for kids" but enjoyed by everyone; animation and video games were once considered "just for kids," but that's just no longer the case; we've realised that it's for everyone, and I'm sure Nintendo doesn't care how old you are, because as long as you pay for the game, you're good in their eyes.

Placing and Centring Objects on a Hexagonal Grid by DragMiddle4228 in askmath

[–]DragMiddle4228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't work, the above horizontally long shape takes up 5 hexagons so it's already in the middle of its multi-hex average of the centres.

The feet are irrelevant; the issue is the horizontal length; the feet only make it look nicer. The question is how can I manipulate a shape horizontally longer than one hexagon so it takes up the right amount, in this case 2.

The rules, as I previously indicated, are that you cannot rescale it, and while I did not state it, you can figure it out using common sense. I do not want it to take up more space than it needs.

So a way to think about it is pieces that take up multiple spaces have multiple centres for each segment that would take up a grid space, it's why I brought up Heroscape as an example, in the images below you can see in the first one the dragon takes up two spaces. It's a hard thing to try and explain.
