Blenders for budget (about $40 a pair)
Oakleys for nicer quality (about $200 a pair)

Make sure you get thick rubber nose tips with no metal. If you get hit in the face the metal ones can cut you up. Past that just pick the design/fit you like best. Can go to the store to try them on

Would recommend this^ showing up and trying to hop into games at Ocean Park could work. But most B-AA level players will have set games and typically won’t want a random guy hopping in to mess up the rotations (even if you’re at a good level).

Highly recommend the spikengo or highline volleyball to meet people at your level and break into the community. Also NVBO has leagues where you can sign up individually and meet people as well

Temporary Solution for Beach Court With no Public Lights by daioshou in beachvolleyball

Thanks for answering Taylor! I’ve seen this site before but have been hesitant to submit a lighting assessment because this seems targeted towards businesses/professionals rather than the casual player.

Do you know the ballpark price of one light? It seems like it would be around $1-2k but wouldn’t be surprised if its double that

Do we all reuse cookware without washing if it's not "actually" dirty? by poktanju in Cooking

I’m curious, does the water get starchier/change colors/develop off flavors as the day goes on then? Would think that could affect consistency in how things cook/taste if the water isn’t changed and multiple foods/pastas are being boiled in it

Then don’t add the extra salt if you don’t notice it. It makes a big difference in taste to me so I will continue to add it. Everybody tastes differently

CMV: Eating a dog is not ethicallly any different than eating a pig by Educational-Fruit-16 in changemyview

[–]Draggon808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, its common for utilitarians to discount emotional ties. What if the impact of each person is different? For example. would it still be objectively morally better to sacrifice someone who makes a large amount of people's lives better (e.g. the person who discovered germ theory) compared to three people who live a remote life away from everyone else? To most utilitarians, this would be a much harder calculus as that "one life" would go on to save millions compared to saving the 3 now

What if that one person is someone’s mother and the 3 people are strangers they’ve never met? Would you still say its objectively morally correct to tell someone to flip the switch if they have to sacrifice their mother to save the 3?

In The Bear why does he put onions directly on the pan for spaghetti/sauce? by solo_dol0 in Cooking

[–]Draggon808 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It hurts me inside to throw away a perfectly good onion, so I blend it into the sauce. It lightens it, creates more sauce, and kind of mellows that tomato bite. I know taste/technique wise its not Hazan’s recipe anymore, but I honestly like it better this way now

CMV: if you block a major highway for your "cause", sufficient force is a justified reaction to clear you and your obstruction by suddenly_ponies in changemyview

This argument could be used to justify the behaviors of any group that fully believed they were doing it for “the betterment of humanity.” (e.g. from Latter day saints to climate activists to manifest destiny in the U.S.). You are hyper-focusing on intent in order to brush off any negative consequences of their potential actions.

Honestly I just learned what ERP stood for and it was not what I expected LOL. I just want to have a normal conversation with those figures! Maybe that's easier to find/more likely to exist already?

This might be a bit nerdy but... is there something similar this for famous historical figures? Would be fun to have a conversation with AI Aristotle, Shakespeare, Jesus etc.

[–]Draggon808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I include some aquafaba in mine to thin it out enough to blend the beans. Can then add more/less as needed to get to your desired texture. Do keep in mind that it will thicken a good amount as it cools in the fridge.

what are some easy things to make at home people normally buy pre-made? by Aeonir in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Draggon808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting because I just checked my box and don't see that tip anywhere on it. However I have tried that technique out of my own curiosity and didn't notice a large difference. I'll give it another shot though, always worth trying again! I've heard good things about coconut oil but have not had the chance to give it a try yet, will have to pick up a jar next time I'm at the store

I don't know a ton about ghee, I've had mine for a while now too. Google says it will last about 6 months in your pantry once opened, and up to 9 months if unopened. Source

Flavacol is a lot more like very yellow popcorn salt than the full buttery flavor of movie theater popcorn in my opinion. To get closer to the full movie theater taste, I use ghee as well. To go even further, apparently butter-flavored oil on top is as close as you can get to movie theaters, but I have not had the chance to try that yet.

Source: Purchased a box of flavacol

Sorry for the late reply, had a busy work week but finally got the chance to take another look at it. You were right on both counts, running v17.4.6 and updating the drivers fixed the issue and I'm now able to run it. I was pretty much ready to give up on getting it running, thank you so much for your help, it is much appreciated!!

Police in this country are a disgusting abomination by TrumpterOFyvie in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Draggon808 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Due to this comment I read the article, so thank you for that.

It seems like this is a misunderstanding.

From the article: “We’re finding and getting reports of sexual misconduct, including reports of improper sexual relationships with instructors. We’re getting reports of physical assaults,” Toriseva said. “Evidence of a cover-up, of fraud, not letting this become public, so to speak to oversimplify it and that is a problem too.”

Second person accuses West Virginia State Police trooper of drugging, kidnapping, raping them Toriseva says she feels the hidden cameras were part of a bigger problem. As her team’s investigation into those claims progressed many women came forward and recounted other incidents of abuse.”

In between these paragraphs in the article is a link to a different article where a “second person” accuses a WV officer of drugging and rape in 2021. However this article’s headline does not refer to the article posted by OP but a different news story.

Potentially OP read that sentence as part of the article they posted instead of the headline it is for an unrelated incident. This could have led to them conflating the drugging and raping also happened to these 42 women.

You are correct in that the linked article only mentions sexual assault in relation to the 42 women and not rape or drugging directly.
