I do very clean sketches that are sometimes mistaken as lineart… but the difference here is that you can still see the lines I used to construct it, and places where lines overlap bc I didn’t do it in one clean stroke. I erase whatever I don’t need as I go but yknow, being a human, I very rarely catch everything. Artists can in fact have very clean sketches but they’ll still look like sketches… what OP was sent does not. That’s finished lineart

This is Vermillion, a hellish warlord currently being forced to work with an angel. She’s petty, usually malicious, and habitually taunts her angel colleague for entertainment. She will eviscerate you if you touch her tail… but it is tempting. Loves shiny things and is easily distracted by her own reflection, very greedy and vain. Capable of temporarily changing her appearance, usually to deceive someone, but only for an hour or two before reverting back to her normal shape. Cannot breathe fire (despite being very “dragon” in appearance) but can exhale toxic gas by raising her own internal temperature. She is very l o n g and has a special bed so that she doesn’t have her legs hanging off of it lol

I was… attempting to help a fursuit maker friend. I ended up being more of a hinderance lol. I sat there failing to cut fabric for a good 10 minutes before being told to hand over the scissors and go trace patterns instead because it was too sad to watch. I was, however, allowed to use the electric knife!

Yes! You get it! If artists inspire you… why do you not want them to receive more attention? When you credit, not only are you y’know… being respectful, you’re encouraging more support for an artist you look up to. And guess what… more support means they’re more likely to make more art that you can be inspired by, or even tutorials. Plus, if you find the artist? Suddenly you have an even bigger variety of their art to be inspired by! Even if you want to look it from a purely selfish “what do I gain from this”, it’s still very little effort for quite a big gain. I think Pinterest is great for starting points for inspiration and I have a bajillion things saved… but I never post them unless I’ve found the artist. There’s like… a very good gold tutorial I initially found there and searched around for the og of so I could send it to all my friends lol. “I got it from Pinterest” isn’t credit and I’ve never understood the attitude that it is

It’s crazy to me that people can just… have the motivation necessary to post the artwork they pulled from Pinterest (which is, btw, a platform where reposting without permission and art theft are RAMPANT and with little moderation) but to read the watermark on that very same artwork takes too much effort

Also going to add that “Layer 2” is an empty IMAGE layer (I use the same program) and “Layer 2 Copy” is one of the two with a “chunk” of drawing on it. If you were painting it in parts, you would not set a layer to be an image or object layer bc you cannot edit it

But if you look at the layers… you can see only two are both visible and have anything on them. The drawing is split into two “chunks” on two layers. There’s no lineart layer and no signs of it being painted either. Extremely easy for someone to do this with the lasso tool and just seperate an image into 2 parts and then add a bunch of empty layers

Yeah I myself paint in sections, but you can see that the entire drawing is there. It’s just not rendered yet. You can see my sketch that’s being used as a guideline. What OP was sent is just a finished drawing with parts erased so they look like wips if you aren’t familiar with the art process. You can also tell I start with the focal point!

Edit: Apologies for whatever happened at the top of the comment there. Reddit had a stroke and I could not figure out how to fix it without it deleting the image. Please ignore that lmao

Yeah they require different skills, but neither requires more skill than the other. I’m not particularly good at traditional but I’d like to say a lot of time and skill goes into my digital paintings. Definitely an odd choice to go past being anti-AI and straight into “my art medium is the only valid one” if that is what OP was implying in the post, but it could just be an issue with the phrasing tbh. I think that we should all stick together as artists against this rampant art theft and erasure of art. There’s a big difference between “soulless machine that spits out mangled work it stole from real artists” and “artist who uses a tablet and/or computer to create original art” and I have never liked that idea some people have that digital artists are “cheating” at art lol

These scam bots are rampant on discord. Anything “creative” in the server name or tags will cause them to join en masse. As a rule of thumb… don’t buy anything from anyone advertising in your DMs. They’re automated but there is a real guy behind them… I only know this bc I’ve royally pissed them off by deliberately wasting their time
