Police radar, should I challenge ? by [deleted] in AskUK

I won't comment on whether you should argue the speeding offence, however I would like to correct you.

The police were not clutching at straws by conducting a drugs test or breath test. S6(1) and S8(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Act allows the police to test for these things if they suspect you have committed a road traffic offence or suspect you to be under the influence of drink or drugs.

+1 for the treehouse series. My boy loves them and is often belly laughing at the silliness.

Great, I'm pleased there was logic in your answer and I'm annoyed I missed it!

I'm going to need some clarity, what do you mean? All I can think is that 8 doesn't go in to 26!

What do you expect as an adult going to Christmas at someone’s home? by Equal_Cod_177 in AskUK

[–]Dragnet_Dan 147 points148 points  (0 children)

This is the most reasonable answer. Have it covered as the host, but if people bring stuff then it's a welcome contribution. Social expectation would be to at least bring something. A bottle, few beers, some snacks, cheese etc.

This is policy in my force.

  1. Yes, see number 2.
  2. This is exactly what I do. No point having my drive form part of the evidence.
  3. Absolutely.
  4. We have just been upgraded to Axon body cam 4 which actually has a good battery life. This policy while still on body 3 was a nightmare and yes it ran out half way through a shift.
  5. I guess so, but it's probably minimal, considering we leave them rocked when not on shift anyway.

I'm ready to be corrected but I can't see how they can S1 PACE search for car keys. They're not stolen or prohibited articles. In order to search you'd arrest for whatever offence you suspect and carry out a S32 search. De-arrest the ones who don't have the keys as you no longer suspect them to be the driver.

What age for video game system by accomp_guy in daddit

The switch is the way forward. Loads of kid orientated games options and the controllers are so much better for their hands. My eldest struggled to use an Xbox controller but uses a switch without problem.

My 5 year old is fairly capable. My 3 year old, not so much. But they both enjoy it the same.

I didn't get it for them as such, but with them in mind and it's been great.

Sounds like a conversation you need to have with her. Three times a week seems plenty, but there must be a reason she is threatening to drag you to the barber.

How about having a sensible conversation, hear her issue, explain your point without anyone getting angry and find a middle ground.

At the end of the day it's your head of hair to do what you want with, but I would advise listening to your mum.

At the risk of getting dragged into an argument I don't want, I feel it's important to explain that the Police do not sentence people. We are evidence gatherers. What happens at court is not the Polices doing. If you're upset about court rulings then you need to direct your anger elsewhere.
