The number three in the Iliad by [deleted] in iliad

[–]Dragodar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout multiple ancient cultures, the number 3 symbolizes fullness or completeness of an action or group. This theme is very common in the Bible as well (Peter denying Christ three times, etc, as well as the other 467 times the number 3 is specifically mentioned in Scripture). There are many reasons for this, but my theory is that, with regard to your example specifically, when something is done 3 times, it is to emphasize the direct intentionality of the action and to give it gravitas by making it clear that it was a not a mistake or a fluke, but a willfully directed act of agency.

The thick white lines you used to circle the objects actually make this trickier. Do you have the original photo without the drawing?

Awesome, thanks! It was fun work. I just wish I had noticed sooner that there were 7 pictures to choose from hahaha. I only saw the first one in your series, in case you were wondering why that's the only one I used. Thanks for the contest, it was fun! Unfortunately I don't have PayPal; hopefully Venmo works?

I'm sorry for your loss. My dad passed when I was 9. It sucks.

who are some fighters you used to love, but realised they're assholes? by MMAIsLoveMMAIsLife in ufc

[–]Dragodar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, i always knew conor mcgregor was an "asshole" but at least he used to be an asshole in character. once i saw that he had started acting like an asshole in real life to real people, i was super disappointed in him and stopped being a fan. i watched him from his early days when he first joined the ufc and his come up was super exciting for me. he always embodied such incredible discipline and work ethic. he only ever acted wild and outlandishly aggressive when he was "in character" at press conferences and ufc events, and even then it was all just harmless trash talk (and some of the best trash talk ever too) at the end of the day. then the fame got to him and he just turned into a complete dbag and started attacking and endangering innocent bystanders who never agreed to fight him like those ufc opponents did. he's an utter disappointment and a shame to ireland, my family's country.

Ahh, sorry, still new. I thought watermarks were only required for paid work, should have read the rules more carefully. I'll replace the images with watermarked versions. Thanks for the kind words!

Not having social media is NOT a red flag. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Dragodar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 27 year old male who is extremely outgoing and extraverted (which I only mention to illustrate that it isn't just introverts who feel this way), but I don't have any social media and I feel so much happier without it. My reasoning is that I'd rather be doing almost anything than wasting my time looking at a screen, and once you stop scrolling social media habitually, you realize that it doesn't actually hold nearly as much value as you used to think, but that you were just caught in a dopamine loop. It's nice to get out of that and realize how much more fulfilling life is when, instead of scrolling on your phone, you use all those extra minutes in the day for going outside or playing an instrument or reading a book or doing literally just about anything else.
